Mangok Mathiang signs two-way deal with Charlotte Hornets

The two-way contract is the NBA's new initiative, which will see Mathiang, who had a five-year career at the University of Louisville, earn approximately $320,000 over 45 days.

The 24-year-old will be a contracted player on the Hornets, but is expected to spend most of his time playing for their G-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm.

I dont like these articles saying that he will make $320,000. He will only make that if he is with the team for the maximum 45 days. Much more likely he will earn a lot less.

Regardless of whether he gets it or not, better to be on a two way contract than just in the g-league awaiting a call up. You'd think it'd be a lot harder for players to make that jump now that there are more spots on rosters which make it easier for teams to manage and manoeuvre their rosters to their advantage.

^^ I agree. For Mathiang, it would be better to be on a two-way contract until he can establish himself as a top-tier player in the G-league.

Is Mathiang a part of the Australian basketball fraternity really or is he kind of a rogue, forgotten about player who Andrej Lemanis has missed along the way?

Perth have released a statement saying they were going to sign him but didn't, but they only did that because Gleeson admitted he'd never heard of him.

The undrafted center out of Louisville put in averages of 4.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game through five Summer League games with the Hornets. He'll be another big body at camp, but Mathiang will spend most of next season in the G-League. Aug 1 - 6:45 PM

The Aussie selectors are such losers because players like mathiang, Adel, bolden and Acuil should have been picked for the boomers, but instead they picked rubbish journeymen like

Martin, Kickert, Cadee, Gliddon, Creek, Kay
Hodgson, Blanchfield, Brandt, Norton.

The team selected now is so the same players play in Asian Cup this month as the World Cup qualifiers starting in November as any non-Australian based players won't be available. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

Why aren't these Sudanese players who were developed by Australian ball listed as Australians by the NBA? For marketing reasons re: Africa? Baynes born in NZ but classified as Aus (correct and makes sense - grew up here), Kyrie Irving classified as Aus (only born here then left - incorrect). Puzzling stuff by the NBA with their classifications.
