What was wrong with Clint Steindl this year?

The specialist shooter couldn't shoot and was a negative in all other areas too.

Was it struggling to adapt/break through an established rotation?

Was it a lack of a guy who could penetrate the defense and kick it out to him for spot up shots? Most of the Wildcats' plays for him were running him off screens, but is he better off just standing in the corner and spotting up? The Wildcats didn't really have any penetrators. Cotton scored mainly from jumpshots, Martin isn't a driver, Tokoto does attack the paint but wasn't as good in the second half of the season.

Or is Steindl just not that good to begin with?

Whatever it is, having committed to him for two years, Perth will certainly be hoping they don't see what they saw this year again next season.

Clint Steindl is probably a secret agent sent to destroy Perth from within. His efforts were DISGRACEFUL

Get him to play some defence, then worry about shooting the ball....

It's easier to be a guy that looks good on a good team than looks good on a bad team

I remember when him and Gliddon came in together at the taipans. by the end of that season it became pretty clear which one was going to be any good.

He had that 1 great block highlight of the year for him he couldn't throw a pea in the ocean all season long.

Peas are deceptively difficult to throw a long way so Clint's location relative to the ocean at the time of the throwing needs to be known before being about to understand how insulting your statement is. Wind velocity is also an important parameter.

This is gonna be biased because I love Clint Steindl (seen him for a signing after a game and told him he was my favourite player and he couldn't believe his ears lol)

But Clint is that classic when he's shooting in warm ups his shot has beautiful flight and spin and doesn't look like missing and he's making 8 in a row a lot... but come the games and his shot barely looks like it goes over the rim as if he's rushing it... whatever the case he really has a lot to make up to with the rest of the Red Army.

Playing shit minutes behind our two best players doesn't help either

Wind direction would also be important with pea throwing. With the wind would be much easier than against it. Those offshore winds could devastate shooting form and rhythm for even the most skilled pea thrower (I am assuming that you'd be throwing the pea into the ocean from the shore).

My favourite pea variety is the snow pea, but I think its aerodynamic qualities would be ill-suited to pea throwing events.

So what role does Steindl have?
Is he better backing up the 2 or 3 in the Cats' lineup?
I get the impression that if on-target he's a better SG than SF, but Gleeson seems to prefer a combo, ie having two guys on court who can run the play?

I'm wondering what the Cats will look for to fill that remaining slot?
Import 2 and 3 are givens, but what else?
