Wemby unanimously named Rookie of the Year

To absolutely no one's surprise. Seems so long ago that there was some noise for Holmgren who got all but one of the second place votes.

I watched a highlight reel of Wemby's rookie season earlier today and it's funny to compare it to something like the career reel of Yao Ming. Yao's top plays include a mild behind-the-back fastbreak and a circus shot which is arguably mostly luck. Wemby had dynamic handles on dozens of plays and major blocks against big rivals, and it's only been one season.

It's going to be interesting to see how they flesh out the roster around him.

Wemby ended up with some pretty generational stats. When all is said and done (and if stays healthy) he could be one of the most dominant individual overall players since... Wilt?

Sadly players his height rarely have fruitful careers or long careers. He's clearly more athletic than any other player anywhere near his height so hope he can dominate for a long time.

Possibly his most amazing stat is his blocks per game average. The league average for the leaders has gone down considerably since the early 2000s as I'm assuming less people were driving into the paint, shooting mid range jumpers and feeding big guys in the post - AKA jacking up threes in more space.
