Boomers Camp wraps up

Pretty fluffy article up on the NBL site, but Jacob gets a mention:

Jacob Holmes was the only athlete to require medical care, copping a Larry Davidson elbow in the eyebrow. Doc game him six quick stiches and it didn't slow the Adelaide guard down a bit.

I think they mean that the Doc gave him stitches, not game him, but anyway. The squad again for those who've been living in a hole:
CJ Bruton (Sydney Kings), Jacob Holmes (Adelaide 36ers), Glen Saville (Wollongong Hawks), Jason Smith (Sydney Kings), Mark Worthington (Sydney Kings), Peter Crawford (Perth Wildcats), Brad Davidson (Hunter Pirates), Brad Newley (Townsville Crocs), Russell Hinder (Hunter Pirates), Oscar Forman (Adelaide 36ers), David Barlow (Sydney Kings), Greg Vanderjagt (Townsville Crocs), Luke Kendall (Sydney Kings), Pero Vasiljevic (West Sydney Razorbacks), Sam Mackinnon (Brisbane Bullets), Neil Mottram (Melbourne Tigers), Tony Ronaldson (Perth Wildcats), Adam Caporn (Wollongong Hawks), Larry Davidson (Hunter Pirates), Paul Rogers (Perth).

5 Sydney Kings

CJ and SMith deserve to be there. The other guys do not. Worthington has not proven himself worthy and Barlow and Kendall and still developing.

Of course there's five. We have a starting five not a starting 2 or 3!!!

I disagree, i think Worthington and Kendall are guys that you want out there. Barlow will get better, just them a shot. I think Worthington will make the 12 as will CJ and Smith obviously.

I also hope they give Vanderjagt a go.
Mottram is not as good as Pero or Vanderjagt and even though he is a SA boy (sort of) - i cant see him getting in the 12.

Watching both play on several occasions.

I believe Vanderjagt is a better prospect. Plus he can shoot the ball when needed, Mottram is much improved now that he is getting more minutes, but i think Vanderjagt will help us at the games more.

Vanderjagt is a better rebounder and i think runs the floor pretty well. Mottram was really only named in the squad because of a lack of big men.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the opposite anonymous, if you have the time.

Mottram 8 and 5 per not great but to be a boomer with 5 and 2 indicates that some of the invitations to train with the squad are based on potential only. Please make a boomers squad something to strive for and reward performance. Surely players should establish themselves for their own club before they are gifted a spot in a boomers squad.

The word from Goorj on Mottram:

"Mottram was great," Goorjian said. "He had a very good camp.

"He was really strong and played really, really hard. I was really pleased with him.

"He plays that on-ball screen well, he's got good hands and he's one of those guys with long arms and he's an athlete. He's quick and athletic as hell.

"He's in great condition and that's important to me. He was one of the guys under the microscope and he was great."

You serioulsy think Vanderjagt is better than Mot's, what have they put in the water since i left SA?

And if you dont think Worthington, Barlow and Kendall are worthy you might change your mind after they play the 36ers this weekend and you see them for a whole game not just the highlights on Fox or the box scores on the website.

"That's one of the things that Brian said to us," Vanderjagt said. "We can't just disappear for the rest of the season, we've got to knuckle down and play hard for our club teams."
