Sixers in the RED because....

Just some of the reasons why the Sixers are in their current position, feel free to add your own diagnosis.

Better to have them out there than to repeat history........

1. BASA management
2. Paid Mike Dunlap far too much money.
3. Mike Dunlap sacked several Adelaide born/fan favourites.
4. Adelaide always went after the best American in the league, paying top dollar i.e Robert Rose
5. Barry Richardson's dubios 'cash handling'.
6.Government building the Entertainment centre
7. Paying out player contracts for several years after they finished playing
8. Bizzy's padded answers
9. BASA management
10. Current sixers coaches getting paid way too much.
11. FTA Telly

Any others?

Not continuing with Pudney Panda as their mascot. He personally led the Bearcats to the 1982 championship, despite what Al/Ken Richardson/Leroy might say.

but in returen receive $250,000 per year not to hold concerts or events.

here's my question. Would BASA be able to make more profit than $250,000 per year if they were to hold events? if so, scrap that govt contract, and put some financial pressure back on the ent centre and the govt. Force them to relinquish our debt, (in return for not holding concerts perhaps).

The argument against this is that BASA struggled with their own situation as it was and I don't know that you could bank on them being able to add major event coordination to their plate. With the right people I wouldn't say it was impossible at all but their priority is obviously basketball.

Can't scrap a contract becasue in a court of law we would be fined more than we would make, after you include lawers fee's.

Basketball should be able to make the Dome profitable, with the amount of basketball played in this South Australia, if other stadiums are being utilized over the Dome, then that is irresponsible by BSA and the Dome management. The Dome (BSA) management should not need to diversify there product to make a profit, if diversifying the product will increase the projected revenue objectives that would be nice but basketball is and should always be the number 1 priority for that stadium. If BSA has basketball in the Dome 250 days of the year they should be able to turn a profit (I am not talking about the Sixer, they are simply a tenant) that would virtually give them 35 weeks of competition and not including Sixer profits from catering and hospitality.

Monday and Tuesday night have all 3 courts going with Div 3, 4 and 5 (men's and women's games)
Wednesday night have the reserves games there (men's and women's games)

Thursday night have a mixture of under 16's lower grades (do they still play on a Thursday night) and a social competition

Friday night and Saturday morning have all court running with junior program and Saturday afternoon sell a few courts to a privet school for games

Sunday afternoon and Sunday night have a social competition (men's, women's and mixed)

It's absolutely imperative that the dome makes money over other stadiums and that is the place to be filled first!

Levels of priority to BSA

Sixers first
Dome second
Local Club third as they should be able to look after themselves with out exceeding there limits

I would have thought that the number 1 priority of the Basketball Association of SA would be to the sport as a whole not the Sixers and the 12 players that make the team!

Surely the interests of the 10's of thousands of everyday players should be put before the elite 12!!

and when we go bust from the lawyers fees, who'd have to pick up the bill? The plaintiff.
