Bell and Flynn Spoke about the 36ers last couple of performances, Flynn said its easy to be critical straight away, he said would like to see the young guys like Hill play a bit more, but its hard to be critical 4 games in, and will be interesting to see how there style stands up against other teams. Bell said they had 4 games in 9 days, and havnt had a lot of training time, still trying to settle Wheeler in, said that it will take time to gel, said they do need more of a back up point guard. She asked Bell how much influence Smyth had with recruiting players, given the clubs situation at the time, mentioning missing out on Dusty and Ingles, Bell said with the situation players could only be offered 1 year contracts, and with a case like Dusty, he was offered 2 year contracts with more money, with Ingles, said he was offered what they thought was the maximum contract, which they got wrong, said the coach selects the players, and negotiations with management, he also was offered a spot in the 13, other clubs offering him a spot in the 10. Bell said Ingles didn't go to the team that offered the most money, the Dragons had advantages, with Price coaching, and knowing Holmes and Ninnis. Bell said he thought Saville and Mackinnon as a good 1-2 punch, Saville said Mackinnon played really well out of position, and also missing guys like Nielsen, Andersen and Anstey really hurt the team more so, said they would of made a huge difference to a team. Asked about playing for the same coach for a long time, said Joyce is the kind of guy who calls a spade a spade, and over the years they have had there little arguments, but he doesn't hold a grudge, just likes to have it all out in the open, which makes life easier. Asked about Joyces son playing on the team, said Brendan is very excited about, Saville said he has improved heaps as a player, said its probably difficult to have his son there and treat him like any other player.

Re James Harvey: West Sydney not wooden spoon favourites? Will be thereabouts come finals time?

I don't think he had shoulder reconstructions at all; I think he had a brain reconstruction.

"Flynn said its easy to be critical straight away, he said would like to see the young guys like Hill play a bit more, but its hard to be critical 4 games in"

there was critism from a few last season I'm sure DC had a serve of Phil on more than one occassion.

I just think this season people are looking for change now because they held it in last year, hoping for a brighter future.

Personally I know I've wanted Smyth gone for awhile so my view is not predicated on just the last four games.
