Touching in the NBL

What's up with all the touching going on in general between refs and players?
Something I've seen for a while in the NBL. Refs will sometimes put their complete arms around a player/hands on waists and keep them there for an extended period of time. And players also have a grab at officials every now and then too.

What's up with all this?

Huh, there you go. Missed that game altogether but it happens all the time. watch any given game and you'll see some action.
