Maybe I’m being cynical but it sounds to me like they introduced one to give Jokic AN award because he was never going to be given the MVP award. (SGA has that locked in, no doubt)
Good to see Daniels in two categories; as long as he gets one award I’ll be happy. I think the odds are against him in the MIP unfortunately.

No worries, it's a bit of a random one.
On further reading this will the the 3rd season of it,
De’Aaron Fox won it 22/23, and Steph Curry won it 23/24

Would love to see Daniels pick up both that he's up for but I think he'll miss on both.
DPOY almost always goes to a big with the best (or close to best) defensive team seeing that defensive anchor as having the biggest impact. It could happen, but I think Mobley will get it.
As JJ Redick recently said, the MIP has recently turned into which high draft pick has started to put it together after a slow start and made an all star team. The way its going I expect Cunningham to get it even though he's a number one pick and his scoring is only up from 22 to 26. They love the narrative.
MVP should be Jokic again - he's easily the best player. But again, voters get bored and start thinking about "well, we can't give him another one if he only has 1 ring" even though its a regular season award.
SGA is worthy, but Jokic has been arguably better this season than in his MVP seasons.
