Silly, but can it happen: 36ers vs Taipans

if against all the odds 6ers get a win against taipans - it could happen - the season is still well and truly alive
i see this game as the sixer grand final - a win and silly but it could happen sixers get to the play off - tonight game be the pivotal game
i basing this hope on the draws confronting blaze taipans breakers - i think one of them will struggle to make final but sixer got to get win tonight
whose on the same page as me - biggest game of the year for the 6ers

I agree. For the sixers to make the playoffs, they must win tonight! But they must also win their remaining 4 games to have any hope of making the playoffs as I believe you need 15 wins for the season to make the top 8.

Having said that and the consistency the sixers have shown this season, I believe the playoffs are out of reach!

To think that before the season started, the
36ers were tipped to finish around 4th. Also to think that a thought went through my mind at the time saying I am not happy with that, we need to do better. 4 months later............better not say anymore.

The NBL Live box score is okay - you won;t find Hodge's numbers on there. You can get his points by adding up the players who do show in teh box and subtracting that result from the 11 total for the Sixers. I don't know about the other stat lines (rebounds, assists, fouls) for him though.

Otherwise, take WhoMe! advice and wait for the full box score to go up on nbl.com

All sorts of kudos should be given to Phil and the coaching staff for recuiting Hodge - it's just such a shame that he wasn't brought in earlier. A decision that will probably cost the Sixers a spot in the finals.

It's challenging finding an import mid-season who can contribute immediately and Julius has a great combination of speed, length and athleticism which makes him very hard to stop in this league. Would have loved to see this game.

Hodge used to play in the NBA, if he didnt develop a jump shot there or in junior ranks i doubt he will in Adelaide!

I think its that brace thing he wears when practicing, they make you set the ball too far infront of the body, so you cant get enough vertical extension, so the shot is too flat

Just got home, haven't been bothered reading through all the posts. Great effort by the team, 75 points out of our import duo is ridiculous! Doesn't look good for that horrible coach though, as it is very clear NOW if not earlier that this roster had the goods to make the playoffs.

Note, any player who can go for 39 in this league without a jump shot, obviously has some serious weapons in every other department to almost OVER COMPENSATE for his fault! Good to have a import to get behind and barrack for again without worrying where his next Turnover will come from! PLEEEEEEEEASE SIGN JULIUS HODGE for 08/09!!!!

Well done boys - BIG win!!

Mathematically we can make the finals, hope this win lifts the spirits a bit.

Hodge last 6 games averaged: 26 ppg

Ballinger, was going to say he has been off lately
with 12,15,19 (still good numbers) but then hits a massive 36 and collects 10 rebounds.

Darren NG WITHOUT Maher hit...

20,24,30,20,24,24 = 23 ppg

Brad Davidson is in his best form of his career at 13 ppg

So Adelaide should be getting the wins, they can certainly get the points.

Next year if Hodge and Ballinger stays, who knows, maybe both of them can make the MVP 1st and 2nd?

Actually EC I was pretty confident that they could win tonight (and that's not just hindsight talking). The team's form has been off, but when you speak with the players there are lots of reasons why (besides just blaming the coach for everything).

I try to have a positive outlook and either way, I'll always support the team.

I guess my post was mainly because I don't feel the "supporters?" (huge question mark) on this board are very supportive at all.

Anon #169555, excuse me for showing little confidence but would I be right in saying that I saw last Saturday's game in Brisbane and you did not? That game had such a profound affect, that it is difficult to be confident. I am thrilled at last night's win but confidence will come when they string together 5 or 6 consecutive wins, and when the season ends with more wins than losses. Great game last night but it needs to continue. Not like the Sydney game here 2 weeks ago and then followed it 5 days later with the Perth rubbish. If I wasn't a supporter and passionate about the game and the team, I wouldn't be making these comments as I couldn't care less. The schedule has been really tough in the last 2 weeks and there has been some injuries, but when you have 2 players that can't control their tempers and end up with Tech fouls and ejection from the game, then they are not acting in the best interest of the team. Once again, a great team effort last night and hope it continues so we can still have a run at the playoffs.
