Tomorrows Games to go ahead!

Just received advice that Games will be played tomorrow night, but with a couple of changes.

"Due to the high forecast temperature on Saturday March 15, the Central ABL games will be played with modified timing rules, as follows.

· At the first opportunity after the half way point of each quarter, the officials will call a compulsory time out, if a time out has yet to be called in the quarter.

· The ¼, ½ and ¾ time breaks will be extended by a minute

· Referees will have the opportunity to call additional time outs if they deem it necessary

In addition to the modified rules above, it's worth highlighting the following sections of the Basketball SA Heat Policy.

Coaches should:

· Ascertain whether any players have known medical conditions which may be affected by heat,

· Ensure that players take adequate fluid during the game,

· Make substitutions as appropriate,

· Utilise available time-outs.

Team Managers should:

· Ensure that players take adequate fluid before, during and after the game,

· Be alert and react to any signs of distress/potential distress in players,

· Ascertain whether any players have known medical conditions which may be affected by weather conditions

Referees should:

· Call additional time outs if necessary

Clubs are strongly encouraged to field a full team of 12 players on Saturday night to allow appropriate rotation of players."

Just received a further update from Basketball SA -

"After continued careful consideration, Basketball SA has made the decision not to play any of the CABL games that have been scheduled for this weekend, including Starplex.

We apologise for any inconvenience or confusion caused by earlier releasing a notice advising the games would be played, however due to the continued heat wave and other external factors we now believe it is in everyone's best interest to postpone this weekend's games. The postponed games shall be rescheduled and information relating to this shall be forwarded to everyone at a later date."
