NBL Free Agency - Final Imports / Aus Roster Spots

So most teams have the bulk of their rosters set at this point.

Who's going to fill the remaining gaps on each team? Any rumours on imports / aussie signings forthcoming?

Hawks have an import guard more or less signed. Then another import spot and an 11th man spot left.

36ers have an import (I suspect SEABL or NZ NBL import) coming soon (no idea who). And then one spot left after that. They'd have 3-4 points for that remaining position, I think.

I assume the Taipans have an import to come and a decision on Williams vs Bruce as back-up PG?

Breakers just need a back-up guard.

Melbourne presumably have Braswell and what else?

Hawks on Twitter just now:

Hawks trialling two young Australian bigs in Jack Osbourn & Auryn MacMillan today. Scrimmaging with our guys at the Snakepit.

Isaac would the 36ers want to secure an import if they don't hae anywhere to play? Surely they would hold off until it is resolved

I reckon they'd find somewhere to play if it came to that. e.g., say they slummed it at ETSA Park, it would just mean very few walk-up tickets and trouble for corporates, but they could still play somehow.

ETSA park may create MORE walk up tickets due to the close proximity to the city maybe?

I think the issue about securing the import is not as big an issue when he is most likely already in Australia say out in Knox territory in Melbourne.

Any news on Schensher and his well being?

ETSA would have less walk-ups because it would be full with regular fans.

DB5, ETSA Park only fits 3,200 or so. Given 36ers games in the past (with weaker teams) have had 4-5k, there would be a lot turned away.

Could they set up a big screen near by, even outdoors if decent weather or at a near by pub as a way of fans being able to still enjoy the game with a bit of atmosphere?

Could even charge a gold coin for entry to cover costs of big screen, etc?

Lets hope the Dome gets sorted so it can continue as business as usual.

Fair enough, didn't realise it only held that few.

Townsville Crocs ?@TsvCrocs
So far in the @NBL we have 3 players born in Townsville, 2 in each Brisbane, Mackay & Mt Isa & 1 in Cairns (if K Williams is signed) #GoQld

Interesting tweet - knew the backup pg spot was still undecided and Taipans had a few options (Nate Tomlinson 1st choice).

Knox territory? Lestor Strong? CJ Massingale?

Both would be close to getting Aust citizenship and both would be fairly cheap.

3 Townsville born players: Norton Cedar Cedar
2 Mt Isa born players: Weigh Crawford
2 Brisbane born players: Tragardh Coenraad
2 Mackay born players: Blanchfield Steindl
1 Cairns born player: Williams*

??? that seem right???

On the 2nd import front @CrocsCEO Facebooked this:

A quick update on the last position in the roster for the coming season. We have been in discussion with two on our list over the past two weeks. Both have current D League experience. Neither have a strong perimeter shooting game but both rebound well and are big bodies in the key. One has more experience at 28 while the other is in his early 20's. Both played D League 11/12 780 miles apart in Maine and Pennsylvania. Will keep you posted

Does the fact that all those small regional cities and towns in QLD have as many or more pro basketballers than Brisbane speak volumes of the health of bsaketball in that city, or is it just a coincidence?

Brisbane is ten times the size of Townsville, FWIW.

Hope Crocs are going for a legit C and not trying to play a forward out of position. Some interesting names on those Maine and Pen rosters.

I'm excited to see what they come up with.

Well from a process of elimination, Anthony Kent is the only guy who is a 28 year old big man on those two rosters, so Crocs are definitely talking to him.

Not sure who the other guy is, lots of bigs in their early 20s playing for Maine and Erie.
