36ers Sunday Games

Went through the 36ers home schedule and saw that 8 of their 14 home games were at 1:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. I'm sure some other clubs may have something similar. As a season ticket holder this is a definite minus! Basketball as generally a sport that is played at night not in the middle of the day and especially in the middle of Summer. Interested in your thoughts and opinions?

Just to add- I know it is because of broadcast times but as far as I can tell, a lot won't be live anyway.

Not sure what the dome is like on a hot summer day being underground it might be ok? But not the ideal time slot 2:30 is better

I believe there is a time restriction on the number of people that can be in attendance at an event after 5.30pm on a Sunday afternoon. The condition prohibits Sunday night games.

That being said, I understand the broadcast times were set by Network 10.

On a hot summer day the Arena can get a little sauna like but nothing that can't be tolerated.

At least five of those Sundays are before new years when it generally isnt too hot. The game on Feb 10 could be a stinker, could be in the middle of two weeks 35c-plus.

yep not a fan of the Sunday games, or day games in general. Something about night games makes them seem more of an event. Anyway best team we have had in years so its should be a good run.

Sunday games suck, happy to have 3-4 games on Sunday but almost half the season come on. Yes I understand televised games are good for the club but I do not belive they are good for the spectators who have paid for season tickets then finding out once the schedule is released that you cant get to the majority of games.

From the anon that posted this- Its not so much the weather, its just Friday and Saturday night games are an easier time slot to get to and are just generally better fun. 3 or 4 like previous years is certainly fine.

I take my 6yr old so day games work a little better time wise but night games a better event. Won't be good on hot days in there, A/C no good plus the snowcone line will be mental

Not good as somepeople have to work, like me i finish at 1pm and have to rush to get to start of the game,Sunday games need to be at evening or late pm like the footy twilight times...1.30 is a pathetic time slot and the numbers will be low, just another note many district players train on sunday!!!!
Te attendance will be low for sunday games.

I dislike the 1:30pm Sunday games personally as it clashes with PPV UFC and Boxing events + its a time slot I dislike.

I don't mind the 4pm match as I'm always able to order a pick-up pizza from Uncle Rob's on the way home.

Sunday games would be ideal for district clubs. Trainings Sunday morning, then a team lunch somewhere, watch the game. Great for team bonding.

Ahhh its fine, everyone is so ticky tack about minute things. Go to the game, lose your voice supporting, and hit the bay for some sun set relaxation after. Enough said.

Sunday trainings at our district club spans all Sunday. What a waste of season tickets now if my kids training clashes with the games

better than the friday night games they had last year, remembering that a lot of supporters are either players, parents of players or coaches

This weekend will likely be a smaller than usual crowd. I'm as big a Sixers fan as anyone, but Bathurst only happens once a year. I'm sure there's plenty of others who are the same.
I probably would skip the vast majority of things to go to a Sixers game, but not Bathurst.

Yep Friday night is Div 1 night so leaves a better chance to see them more oftencompared to last season .Could be the same for more Kids to go then !
If its flaming hot, kids training is dropped anyway.
It gives my Wife time to get home to cook a Roast hehe .
Plus the result can go to air at 6 O'Clock news? Some more promo chances.

Im furious, if I had known this there is no way I would have renewed my membership. I work alot of weekends and this timeslot ruins my chances of going to most Sunday games since I either finish or start work at 3pm..
Never before have we had this many rubbish timeslots and I will be applying for a full refund from the club, I am absolutely furious with what ever person decided that Sunday afternoons where even a plausible option. I have brought my tickets based on previous years scheduling, if this is the way the NBL is going I will not be back.

This weekend there's Bathurst, SANFL GF, and a lot of district squads will be beginning training, but most sundays will be a lot more free as the season progresses. I actually don't mind the sunday arvo games, although it would have been nice if there was a 5/4/5 split between fridays, saturdays and sundays

Sunday is a bad day for games because of all the other family activities that happen on a Sunday but its not the worst of it. The Dome is a tin shed. No games should ever be scheduled in the middle of the day in the middle of summer. You know what a 40 degree day feels like at 1.30pm. Its cruelty for the players as well who already work up so much energy playing. Wouldn't be surprised if the heat slows them down and makes for an unexciting game to watch.

With the government saying NO to buying the Arena odds are very high that this will be the last season for the 6ers.
As fans we need to support if they have any hope to make the jump to the Entertainment Centre.

I wouldn't have renewed if I'd known there would be this many Sunday games. I have no problem with a handful of them throughout the season but to have the majority of them in that timeslot is a joke. I won't be there on Sunday as I'll be at the SANFL grand final and there will be a number of other Sunday games I'll be forced to miss.

Can't please all of the people all of the time. For every person who thinks it is an incovenient time (aka UFC watchers), 10 others may think it is an excellent time.

Personally, I hated all of the Saturday night games last year leading up to Christmas. Those games invariably clashed with an invite somewhere every week. Fine if its a winter season, but summer - Sunday lunch is great by me.

Yeah, not a fan of Saturday night games heading into the end of the year either. Lots of Friday night games drew some complaints from those with children playing junior basketball, from memory. Can't pick a perfect schedule for everyone.

Its not just about a time to suit everyone, its about the combination of a tin shed, middle of the day, middle of summer and lack of air conditioning.

Its not the fact that its on a Sunday arvo..its the fact its at 1:30...a Sunday evening 4pm or 5pm game would be more suitable...1:30 screws people in so many ways its not funny.

and why 8 of the 14, with that many I will be lucky to see 4 games...for the price of a season ticket I brought based on the last 5 years of scheduling. I dont mind missing Saturday or Friday games..I brought the tickets knowing I might have to, I didnt buy them expecting over half of the home games to be at a rediculous time on Sunday

You'd think 2:30EDT (2PM CDT) is the ideal time, have it go to 4:30, or 5PM lead-in to the news if overtime happens. They have some gourmet cooking show before the news, hardly a ratings lead-in anyway.

I find 1:30pm Sunday inconvenient in many ways.
4 or 5pm tip off is much more suitable for a Sunday.
However you cannot please everyone.

My favourite is Saturday nights, but a guy at my work cancelled his membership a few years ago because there were too many Friday/Saturday night games. He wanted more Sunday and Wednesday night games.

I don't mind Sunday arvos. Unfortunately this Sunday is one of those rare days in Adelaide where there is several big events on the one day. Parklife, SANFL GF, Bathurst on the Telly.

I'm still confident we will see a decent crowd there for this new exciting team.

I don't expect a perfect schedule as people have different preferences for timeslots but the issue is that so many games are in the one timeslot. If it's spread out more evenly, it doesn't cause a group of people to miss out on lots of games.
