18 game season - alternative

What are people's thoughts on having a Senior Men's and Womens' State Champs sort of carnival? It could be played in the middle weekend(Friday-Monday) of the term 1 school holidays. 2 groups of 5 and then cross-over semi's. Play all games at Pasadena and Wayville, so you can buy a day pass and watch some quality basketball all day long. Both grand finals could be played at Wayville on the Monday night. Surely this would draw some big crowds, get some profits, prepare the top teams for the kind of atmosphere that they can expect at ABL nationals, and also solve the problem about the season proper being too short.

Is there any chance for an increase in teams for 2005. Heard a rumour there may be another team involved next year. Any one else heard the same?

Would mean at least an increase from 18 to 20.
