Big V Tournament

Just had a look at the BiG V tournament fixture for 2017. What a joke why does Big V persist with this tournament, no teams are interested, take out teams not in Big V and there would be no games. Clubs don't support there own league. Joke and I will save some money.

Why does this exist?SCW 4 teams. One is a state U18 team, and Dandenong surely will not have the real SEABL team in as still in WNBL I think..Why even bother

I've said this for years. Timing of tournament is all wrong. Teams are no longer risking their players 1 week out from season proper. Now relying on begging SEABL teams and State teams to fill spots.

Ultimate fail for Julie Anderson and clubs should seek her resignation from the job. Her performance as CEO is deplorable. Go back to writing Government policy and leave Basketball alone.

Yeah, definitely a problem with timing and risking injuries one week out from the season proper. It will be interesting to see how many Big V teams play in the Ballarat tournament over the same weekend.

Only hope of having it be anything legitimate would be to make it round one for everyone and not just vic state champ. Then you'd see everyone go at it hard for the first round of the season.

Having it as round 1 is not the answer. It means some teams effectively have one less home game. That's not fair. The Youth teams that have to play hate it.

Why don't they merge it in with the Ballarat Tournament? I believe that Basketball Ballarat approached the Big V and was told no because they want to keep it in Melbourne. So now it is just going to fizzle out.

The tournament has become an embarrassment for the league.

It is a complete embarrassment, as is the CEO. Can't even get her by-laws right. Is there any chance we'll see a draw for the Youth Champ games before they're actually due to be played??!!!

Why not have it in October and allow teams/clubs to use it as part of their try outs for new faces

So bad was this tournament, in what should of been the showcase divisions, teams not even in the league took the chocolates and prizemoney.

Nunawading SEABL Men vs Waverley & Vic Metro Women (in a forfeit) by another SEABL Team Dandenong.

Nobody takes this tournament seriously - the Dandenong team which forfeited was reported to be " too stuffed" to play the young metro girls......What a joke.

Tournament seems a to be money grab by a group of people who can not come up with better ideas to promote basketball and finance their own organisation.
No money to turn on the aircon is a disgrace and shows the administration is giving the big finger to both players and spectators.

Think you will find that Dandenong team was made up of all the youth league players plus one or two SEABL
The win would count for nothing in SCW because Dandenong don't play big SCW only VYCW.... which they had already played

Looking at how few teams entered SCW Dandenong being the host stadium were probably doing them a favour making up numbers
