QBL Grand Final Series

The 2017 QBL season is set for a grand finale with the men's and women’s competitions playing their best of three grand final series this weekend, with a host of NBL and WNBL stars in action.

Mackay will be hosting Townsville in the men’s grand final, with the Meteors’ star trio of Lucas Walker, Shaun Bruce and Chris Cedar looking to hold off the challenge of the Heat who will be led by Josh Wilcher, Justin Baker and Peter Crawford.

In the women’s grand final, the unbeaten Brisbane Spartan’s host of stars including Ashleigh Karaitiana, Kalani Purcell and Rebecca Haynes will be aiming to lift the trophy against the likes of Mackay’s Nadden Payne and Micaela Cocks. Rarely does a team go through a season undefeated, but this Spartans team has been nothing short of exceptional.

If you have the slightest bit of interest in the qbl make sure you catch the preview of the grand final series on the long and the short of it podcast. This is rapidly becoming my favourite BB podcast and this episode has a great interview with cam Tragardh, as well as being hosted by the TV head coach, Rod Anderson.

Great interview with Tragardh? Not sure if that is possible with that annoying voice of his. No offence intended but seriously he sounds horrible.

Again, a reminder that both the men's and women's series are being streamed live by the NBN crew who have done a stellar job all season.

Nbl have been awesome, hope they enjoyed their trip to TV for the semi and that they manage to make it up here for a few more games next year too.

sorry, meant NBN (nothing but net).

Yes, LATSOI needs to continue through the regular season.

Also just realised that the acronym sounds like something you'd find Stephen Weigh drinking outside Frame on Mcleod Street at 7:30 on a weekday morning.

Why hasn't Joshua Wilcher been on an NBA roster yet? The guy is awesome. I'd take him over the likes of Kuany any day.

Pick and Roll have links to the streams which are still available to view right now. That last game 3 in particular is well worth a watch.

Anyone know what happened to Shaun Bruce? Great shame he didn't play in the finals series after being exceptional for the rest of the season (and taking out the MVP I believe)

Would TV have won if he'd played all three games? I guess that's a question for the ages..

Not sure what kind of blood sacrifice you made on Thursday night Rod but it seems to have worked ;-)

And with all due respect, if I ever have to watch another stream of a game in Mackay it's going to be on mute if the same guy is going to slur "MACK-TOWN" into the mic for all 4 periods.

It's so weird because you dont hear that stuff when you're into the game... until you watch the replay! haha woah!
