Basketball Australia will not appeal FIBA sanctions

Basketball Australia will not appeal the sanctions handed down by FIBA's Disciplinary Panel following the Australian Boomers’ game against the Philippines on 3 July.

Basketball Australia Chief Executive Officer Anthony Moore said "Our legal advice examined a range of appeal options. However, the chances of success under the FIBA appeal process are very low so we have decided to pursue these matters with FIBA independent of the appeal process."

The Basketball Australia Board also agreed to appoint an independent consultant to conduct a review of all matters related to the planning and execution of the tour to Japan and the Philippines including security and crisis management.

Weak! Just got to pay off the right people and it would all go away.

We should have everyone free to play with a suspended fine the only thing issued.

1. BA is probably taking a cautious approach on this to avoid more potential flak (be it true or untrue), trying to move on to some extent.

2. We are more than likely being told what they and FIBA want us to hear, so whatever we are not informed about is likely just going to be buried so as to not bring up more drama.

3. This incident was bad enough, I am sure all the official organisations concerned want to move on.

4. Shouldn't we all now move on............?
