Adelaide v Melbourne Feb 10

Two massive games today. It's 4 v 3 at Adelaide Arena and time to "kick a Vic" It's a simple equation for both teams.
Melbourne: Top spot is yours if you want it.
Adelaide: Your destiny is in your hands. If you win today, you will finish fourth, if you lose, you have a second bite of the cherry, but who wants a second bite?

Melbourne will be looking to regain top spot after ceding it to Sydney a few days ago, so they need to silence the crowd early. Since coming off the bench CG43 has not changed his output, but Melbourne have only lost one game. There's no real chink in United's armour. Ware, Boone, Kennedy, Barlow, McCarron, Goulding. They would form a formidable boy band, but it is the support act that shows the real depth of the team. The Pledgehammer has lifted since heading to United. Moller is a handy asset, and hooley dooley, Peter Hooley is rocking that hipster beard so well he could pass for a Barista from Brunswick in the off season.

Melbourne beat Adelaide in Adelaide last time they met, but Adelaide was missing one man. Moore, Ramone Moore. He's back, baby. Every time has a bogie team and each team has a bogie player. Moore is Melbourne's bogie man.

Melbourne go in as the bookie's favourite, but this will get down to who is more desperate. An Adelaide win today almost guarantees Perth will finish top spot. Surely the Sixers wouldn't give up a finals spot just to annoy the floppy cats? That's why the Red Army is right behind the Sixers, so I expect all you Red Army members to cheer every Adelaide point because every point our brave men score, we do it for you knowing we can help you get top spot. While watching at home, we need you to boo every United FTA, send positive thoughts to the Sixers and get out your voodoo dolls of United players.

C'mon Adelaide, how badly do you want 4th spot?

Yeah Uncle Phil, I recently calculated that if you exclude Perth games, home teams have only won 50% of home games this season (as of 2 or 3 weeks ago)

But we know that's a statistical anomaly.

Adelaide is an athletic team who pushes the pace and attacks the hoop hard, and it's difficult to stay out of foul trouble against them.

Adelaide's inability to finish both quarters has cost them a double figure lead going into half time.

Some really frustrating turnovers at the end of the first and second quarters.

It’s never comfortable watching us play United, Ware and Goulding’s ability to fill it up from three and our shaky perimeter D always has me worried.

Adelaide always look shaky defending teams that play the inside-out game with quick ball movement and have confidence in their outside shooters. Too many 3s put up against defenders out of position.

Anyone would think there is only 1 team and 1 player out there today. Commentator that is showing no respect to anyone else but Ware, Melbourne and Goulding despite him doing nothing except get away with a travel from Melbourne clear sixth man out there today. Show some respect at least to the Sixers having the lead at the moment with no help from home cooking, and that Melbourne is more than just 1 shooter. Unsportsmanlike was (I think) more for stopping the break without playing at the ball. Teys made the contact look more than it was. He just bodied him out of bounds, clear foul but not an unsportsmanlike if it wasn't a break.

Conger stopped a United break in the second quarter after he was beaten and the ball handler past him. Reached a hand toward the ball to check the playing at the ball box, but got him with the body. It's the same thing. Barlow tried to get his hand in the passing lane. You could argue Conger's was worse.

United needs to win both and they will finish on top

Just come home from the game and I have to say that the referees have discovered a new low. They flicked the switch at the beginning of the third quarter and incredibly managed to switch into overdrive for the fourth. I have never heard so much dissent courtside and although crowd emotion in the fourth won the sixers a couple of token calls, it was clear from the beginning of the second half Melbourne was helped to win, only barring a miracle.

For those couple of obtuse posters who actually suggested that Adelaide was getting "home cooking" from these pricks, there's little that's polite to say!

Disgraceful and so disappointing!

I'll defer to the more knowledgeable punters in here, but I feel like out half court game is still just individual basketball; call for a screen and run a hero play.

We have enough weapons... we just don't seem to have the ability to change up our approach as required.

LV, I think Barlow gets away with more fouls than anyone in the comp, so perhaps it was karma. That charge was ridiculous though. Personally, I thought Melbourne upped their physicality late and got away with a bit, Goulding stepped into Sobey on his lay-up late and should have been called, but again maybe it was karma for Sobey's earlier flop!

Either way, the reffing didn't decide the game, it was very well called for the most part, and the game itself was unbelievable. Decent chance this could be a SF match-up too.
