Not yet but the NBL must want a low standard series if they're spacing games on opposite coasts less than 48 hours apart.

Any word yet on if the all the grand final games will be on free to air TV? Going to be a real shame if its not, would be some great exposure for the league.

There is no 9/Go logos on the NBL page yet like there was for the semis so I guess nothing had been negotiated yet but I hope it happens.

Not having dates locked in at this stage is pathetic. Assumed yesterday that it would depend on who won the other series but apparently not.

I have a few commitments coming up and if I'm going to have to miss out I'd rather know sooner than later.

let's see what should be higher priority at the moment. giving the league some time to negotiate with channel 9 for possible free to air broadcast of the grand final series. or letting kober plan his meal times 8 days in advance instead of 7 days in advance?

If negotiating a TV deal is so important they should have done it earlier.

"I reckon it'll be Friday, Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.

Yeah I'm thinking the same. Wednesday will be a bit of an odd fixture considering its not a usual time slot, but it'll allow the momentum of the series to continue through the week. I think it'll be a 4 or 5 game series so it should mean the deciding game is played on a Friday or Sunday which i like.

Friday/Sunday/Thursday/Saturday/Monday runs the risk of the championship being won on a Monday which i don't really like and think it'll hurt attendance and viewers.

Friday/Sunday/Friday/Sunday/Friday(or Saturday) makes the fixture pretty ideal for attendance and viewing but could feel like it's drag out too long and lose momentum and interest.

I also forgot to add that a perk of Friday/Sunday/Friday/Sunday/Friday(or Saturday) is that players would get more rest and hopefully put on a better display of basketball. The other 2 runs the risk of players just being knackered.

Going to be interesting to see what fixturing they go with.

It's only logical which means it probably won't happen which would suck.

Given the tight schedule I actually think Per-Per-Mel-Mel-Per is worth considering.

I'm very confused,
I was reliably informed by the Perth fan base that Perth wouldn’t be making a finals of any sorts.

There needs to be a Royal Commission looking into this.

I don't think it matters what night of the week game 5 happens because in Perth it will sell out regardless. On TV it needs to avoid clashing with MAFS if it wants the huge bogan demographic to tune in.

Does anyone really care. Effectively 6 teams worth of fans will be switched off and watching something more interesting. All getting boring now. Yawn

I agree. That first schedule guess of 5 games + 4 cross country flights in 10 days is insane IMO. It's not going to produce anything near optimum quality basketball. Just Fri-Sun to start the series is bad enough. I would hope that game 3 isn't before the Thursday.

Something tells me it won't just be Shane Heal getting a woody over Melbourne winning I'm sure supporters of any team outside WA will be cheering for Melbourne.

Everyone cheering for Perth's opponent has pretty much been a given ever since NZ stopped being a powerhouse, so yeah I don't see why that would suddenly change this week.

For most of the NBLs history there has been a Melbourne team competing for the championship most years.

Wildcats are one of the most amazing success stories of Australian sport, on and off the court. Many of us begrudgingly admit that, but it's true.

In other words, this is the greatest basketball matchup. Sydney were only a team of stars thrown together

Gleeson and Vickerman won the last 5 championships between them

This is the past two champions playing off

2 of their 4 games went to OT. 3 of the 4 went to the final 15 seconds.

if it goes to game 4 i don't think it will be a Friday night because during last year's finals the club copped a lot of criticism for having a game on a Friday and the clash with junior basketball. This year there were no Friday night games during the season.

I bet it is still pandering to the east in some form. channel 9 probably has some re runs that they want to show until 10pm before they're willing to use their airtime for basketball.

So a later than usual Friday tipoff, then an earlier than usual Sunday tipoff on the other side of the country?

As long as game five isn't on the Thursday that schedule works for me though, thankfully.

And if you practical with game 4 only 48 hours after game 3 it's probably more critical that it’s announced compared to a game a week later.
