Breakers v Sixers Dec 15

Super Sunday kicks off with the Sixers playing the cousins across the ditch.

Last time they played, the Sixers pummelled the Breakers, pulling the wings off them like a child pulls the wings off a bug. It's a different Breakers team today. They have had a shocking season with injuries and off court drama dominating the headlines. It's like they were extras on Shortland Street. But one man has stood tall. Abercrombie has been the glue that has held the team together. He might not be taking the glory on the leader board, but he has been as good on the court as Glen Rice has been bad off the court.

Webster has been The Breakers saviour, but they go deep with any player willing to stand up in any game at any time. Just like Whack-a-mole.

The Sixers played an absolute thriller on Friday night and this might be their undoing today. New Zealand with the fresher legs and home court advantage are in a much stronger position, but just when you think all is done, enter Harry Froling who would be on a high with some party tricks.

The Sixers may have played their hand this round against SEM. Short turnaround and a long trip might be the difference today. For the Sixers to win, they need to be up by 10 at 3 quarter time. For the Breakers to win, they just need to be in the game and then throw out the spinnaker in the end.

Sadly for us Sixers fan, I think it'll be the Breakers by 6

You are wrong. Confidence is a great source of energy. Sixers to win. DJ and Drimic to rip the breakers.

No Hungry Jack's in New Zealand to give them cheese burgers, Burger King (which is run separately) offer free Whopper Jrs. if they score 90 points though.

got to agree - terrible refs - make it almost unwatchable - think the refs have a bet on Adelaide ! to be fair - they ref so if you are a big or athletic you have no chance - NBL suits players who shoot the 3 and flop and play no D.

Bold moves.

also have to add - why do refs have favourite players and coaches - this is re all teams - some players can go hard on D and others get pinged for the slightest thing - same with coaches - one word from Shamir and it is a Tech - yet last night Gleeson could scream in their face and swear and go for ages and its fine.

Breakers fans have nothing to complain about in terms of the refs. They helped you get back into the game in the latter stages of the 2nd half. Froling clearly pushed in the back causing him to move on the screen. Delany then trips Griffin after he throws down the alley.

Would love to know why Griffin was called for the tech too? If it was for trash talking (why is that a T anyway?) the if the ref had called Delany for tripping which is far more worthy of a T then he probably wouldn't have said anything.

Sure self control comes into it in terms of letting stuff go but that's easier said than done and the refs are not blameless here.

A lot of over-reffing, but also a lot of contact on players moving on court off-ball.

Should have been a tech on Loe. You can't hang on the ring, and you sure as hell can't hang on the ring to the point that you have your leg hanging over a 7 footer's shoulder.

But who cares, Randle bailed us out

NZ should have foul Dillon before the ball got to Randle, he just missed two free throws. Enjoyable game though. Both sides got good and bad calls, it's not easy it all happens in a flash.

Breakers did awesome to only lose by 3 - refs were worth 20 to Adelaide - worst refs I have ever seen (in general but especially against the breakers) - NBL is the softest basketball league in the World. Should be the SBL.
Were the refs Chappell, Warner and Smith ??

Breakers flopped at the end and got some easy fouls on the sixers that were never fouls - they left it too late to click on - Sixers flopped whole game - cannot believe Drimic didn't get a Tech for his on half way.
Adelaide are so bad on D with DJ, Randle and Tees - refs calling it that way helps them out - Ruled like an NBA game they get hammered

Yes you do when there is no time to score again if they make a basket. They could've had the last shot and either won with a three or tied with a two.
There was twenty seconds left on the clock when Dillon had the ball.

Breakers should never have left the ball in Randall's hands till 5 second mark. Should have doubled and made someone else beat them. You could just see it coming. Randall was eying up his options and knew what he was going to do. Good effort though Breakers,

Love in poor position on the screen. Mind you, Shamir said switch on everything, which really means Ashley should have been out there instead of Loe.

Ngatai guarding randle in the second was moronic. Make your way over to the nbl stats sites and chech this guy's stats out. Why rusbstch and majok don't get a run I'm not sure.

Impressive clutch play by Randle for the second game this round. Good to see after he has struggled in some late game situations earlier in the season.

However both the Phoenix game and this game were far closer than they should have been for the Sixers. The inability to play consistent defence means the Sixers always let teams back in and has been a major problem so far this season as it was last year where it cost the team a playoff berth.

Surprised there is so much on here about the Froling/Loe tangle, thought it amounted to nothing. Having just seen the replay on the news, it is far more confusing as to why Delaney didn't get a Tech or USF after the griffin alley-oop dunk. He clearly sticks his leg out with the intention of tripping Griffin - a real cheap shot. Having said that, the unsportsmanlike on Ashley when he fouled griffin was a terrible call earlier in the game. Just shows the ineptitude of the refs in this one.

The refereeing was terrible, both ways.

I don't understand how Shamir gets a tech, Joey gets a warning and get week in week out Gleeson can abuse the refs no end. There’s just no consistency. Griffin’s fouls were soft meanwhile Froling clobbered Henry and Weeks.

In the end, the Sixers deserved to win. Execution down the stretch was better; Breakers had too many turnovers, but it was a good effort considering two starters out.
