Question re: Junior players

Just wondering with all the talk about some parents not being able to afford to have their kid play district basketball, is there any rule preventing a really good "social" player from trying out and potentially making the state team?

Scenario: Little Johnny plays U10-16's but then cos of price increase his parents decide to put he and his brothers in social teams. Can Johnny (who is very good) try out?

absoloutely no reason why this could not happen

the political ramifications would be messy and create a benchmark that the club competition would not want

remember some country players make SA country teams - with no district exposure - ie roxby or mt gambier space cadets

country is nothing like that because it is the country

it is a big commitment for players (and families) to have to come down from broken hill etc every week for a game
