Finally… World ranking system has been changed

2022 Fiba rankings with new system.

Australia doing pretty good for a country of our size.

Now as of February 22

#3 Men (Boomers)
#3 Women (Opals)
#8 Boys (Crocs/Emus)
#2 Girls (Sapphires/Gems)

I will add that given how poor the opals have been over 3 years the next up date won't see us as #3 but more likely #5-#7

They won silver in 2018 WC but after that only won 60% of games which is beyond terrible.

Surely brondellos last chance. No 24 Olympics if she fails this year.

Of those 10 losses, how many games did they have Cambage? Context is important. Even though we all hate Cambage she would make a huge difference. If the previous teams didn't have Lauren Jackson it would be a similar win/loss % record.

15 out of the 27 games without Cambage.

Teams we lost to without Liz

Lost with Liz

Keep preaching brother, it's downright disgusting how BA operate. Basically they've ruined a home World Cup with their inaction.

For sure, we need to forget Liz
hopefully sandy has learnt from the Tokyo debacle but by the looks of the lineup she played France yesterday, she's still very much set in her ways.

Just look at the coaching lineup

Head Coach Sandy Brondello
Assistant Coach Paul Goriss
Assistant Coach Cheryl Chambers
Assistant Coach Olaf Lange
Physiotherapist Gaylene McKay
Massage Therapist Katrina Bourke
Trainer Brent Goriss
Head of Delegation Michele Menso
Head of Team Operations Trish Dykstra
High Performance Manager Jan Stirling

Jobs for husbands, brothers, past opals, best mates etc etc

So what's actually different about the ranking system? Or is that not as important as having another "whine about Sandy Brondello" thread?

It's a game by game ranking system and the different regions points systems have changed. Asia is worth more than before, Americas less.

Winning in asia means less for the boys than the girls

Girls winning u16 or u18 in asia is almost double the points if the boys were to win.

.45 for boys is rough compared to .8 girls.

" australia doing pretty well for a country for our size" - I've never really understood the "country size" argument at all it's beyond stupid in this day and age, australia is a first world country and have a strong overall sporting culture with great facilities and infra for the most part, not to mention , a healthy immigration rate ( just look at the number of australian-american players coming up thru the ranks in the mens team ) . so obv australia will be decent at sports. Heck if anything, beyond a certain point, population size can become a huge headache, since it drastically brings down gdp per capita as resources need to be shared between more people...

Yeah that is why the USA sucks so badly at sport.

Lmao, so your counterargument to disprove my theory is using another filthy rich, first world country with one of, if not the strongest sporting cultures in the world?? You're not exactly the smartest tool in the shed are you?
