NBL Heritage Round 2022–23

So far announced:

1998 Adelaide 36ers
1979 Brisbane Bullets
???? Melbourne United (WTF, it's something totally made up and has nothing to do with heritage)
1994 Sydney Kings
1996 Hobart Tassie Devils

The 'DEVILS' uni on the left is the winner.

I also love how the Bullets went all the way back to 1979, who knew that was their colour scheme? Illawarra, as another '79er, hopefully come up big with theirs as well. I see Hawks-Bullets is scheduled for 21 January so I'm thinking they are cooking up something very similar.

They are also very thematic, apart from whatever the F that is from the bozos over at Melbourne United:

1998 Adelaide 36ers = Champions
1979 Brisbane Bullets = Foundation
1994 Sydney Kings = Glory Days
1996 Hobart Devils = The Final Year

Phoenix also didn't go with any heritage and went with Heartland.

Funny how both Victorian teams keep discarding their old nbl clubs. I thought United were doing North Melbourne but I was told the nbl said to United it’s retro round not heritage, very confusing.

That's what I thought. The teal away Titans jersey is so nice.

Melbourne wouldn’t have a clue of Adelaide’s design when both clubs came up of their designs in August.

Let's not alienate the past - Melb U should 100% leverage Tigers jerseys if they can.

Phoenix should 100% leverage Dragons, Magic, Titans jerseys if they can.

I don’t even care if either leverage Giant, Saints to be totally honest.

Exactly, the Melbourne sides get the advantage of being more creative during Heritage Round and they're doing squat with it.

Imagine an Eastside vs. Westside derby.

I assume Breakers and Wildcats announce their heritage jerseys tomorrow since they finally played the postponed Indigenous Round fixture tonight.

Not sure what the Hawks and Taipans are waiting for though.

Melbourne United is trying its hardest to ensure people forget they were ever the Tigers. At least the Tigers retired numbers aren't being used by current players this year however.

The JJs aren't a reincarnation of the Devils but are paying homage to them, not sure why the two Melbourne teams can't do the same.

Heritage round proves how bland and uninspiring the majority of the uniforms are todays NBL

cairns current uniform is leaps and bounds ahead of any other uniform

i do like the side panels on the Jack Jumpers this year

and i wish the phoenix used a more distinguishable phoenix in their uniforms

dont mind the 4 stars on the 6ers uniform for each championship

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Giants/Titans/Giants have been completely ignored by Heritage Round?

Yes, those Titans away jerseys were legit although to honour their Championship history surely this iconic Giants design needs to be celebrated:

Without asking the office, just checking through my early photos looks like the 2004 season.

Nothing much changed for a couple of seasons after that except the size of the orange stripes, then in 2006 came the snakeskin down the sides.

The problem for SEM is that United has the history of every past Melbourne club including SEM, thus trotting out Magic jerseys for heritage round a few years back.

The problem for United is they insist those clubs are unrelated to United, thus McCarron running out there in #10 during his stint.

It's disappointing but the truth. United basically have to don every past Victorian team. But are their own club not Tigers.

Would have been awesome for SEM wearing Magic or Titans jersey’s. United should have worn Giants uniforms for D-Mack. League didn’t give United enough time to make a heritage jersey, they thought it was retro round not heritage round.

I’m sure next season they will wear North Melbourne uniforms. Just wish the league could ask both Victorian clubs to play a Throwdown in Heritage round. SEM Magic and Melbourne could be Giants or Tigers. They both hated Magic.

How hard would it be for the Phoenix to have a black uniform in the old Magic style with SE Melbourne on it?

Reply #908947 | Report this post

Perthworld

Seeing as the Melbourne situation is already a complete mess they should have as much fun with it as possible considering there are so many choices available to them.

Whichever jerseys MEL or SEM elect to wear can be explained as being a tribute to the past clubs of the NBL from Melbourne rather than it being a direct link to the current franchises. Tasmania are doing it right and I wouldn't be surprised if they produced a Launceston version next season.

United already did it in 2016-17, although in saying that SEM should definitely be taking part.

Next season do Saints representing the origins of the south and the following year Spectres for the east. Easy.

Legit didn't know Brisbane once wore red. Yuck.

The City of Brisbane changed their colour scheme from red and white to blue and gold in 1982, in preparation for the Commonwealth Games, and the Bullets followed suit.

Thanks Gordon.

So in summary:

1998 Adelaide 36ers
1979 Brisbane Bullets (I think the font used is actually from either 1980 or 1981 rather than the 1979 design but is being claimed as such by the club.)
2003-04 Cairns Taipans
1996 Hobart Devils
1979 Illawarra Hawks
2010–11 New Zealand Breakers
199? Perth Wildcats (composite; closest resemblance is to the road uniform of circa 1990-1994)
1994 Sydney Kings

The 80s have gone missing in this iteration.
