Kings new purpose built facility - Lidcombe

It's been in the news for a couple of days, surprised it hasn't appeared here.

They're getting a purpose built facility, and they're calling it a national first.. but what does it offer that the Bendat centre, or VSBC doesn't?

What took me by surprise though was it being in Lidcombe. It was raised here before, but are the Kings well and truly committed to being a West Sydney team now?

Is it going to expand on the Auburn Basketball Centre where the Kings have trained for the last 3 years or so.

So Dawn Burke and co will be making more money from it.

Supporting a non BNSW Association.

They are not in bnsw because basketball nsw charge exorbitant fees, auburn basketball club are doing very well, they just don't field rep team.
Lidcombe is nearly inner west now, right next to Homebush, certainly not western suburbs.

Yeah BNSW fees are a joke considering the overall state of junior basketball in NSW vs other states.

Expand ABC
Parramatta loses primary tenancy and pays rent to the Kings, instead of drawing income directly from the stadium.
Not sure best move for Parramatta.
BNSW in or out is marginal but the institutional change that was promised with a change in management hasn't occurred with the exception of better inclusivity.

I'm sure other clubs have had dedicated practice facilities right? Its gotta be some kind of niche first of a kind. "First ever in the country for a team wearing purple!"

The Melbourne Tigers had the court house in north melbourne back in the glory days.

Makes sense to have one. The Breakers have had one for many years now.

Parramatta will only be paying rent on the courts, all the original courts stay in Parramatta's hands.

Not familiar with VSBC, but Bendat doesn't have anything other than basketball courts. No gym, pool, etc.

They used the word 'national' intentionally so as to not include Atlas Place.
