Te Rangi plays much better for the Tall Blacks than he does in the NBL. Although starting 3 and backup 5 are definitely weak spots. Timmins shouldn't really be in the squad, it's a shame Waardenburg isn't taking part, it would have been great for his development.

Agree EssenX, TeRangi gives them another ball handler and plays above his pay grade in the black singlet.

Also agree with your comments re: the 5 spot but Timmins at least provides some size inside the paint rather than playing small ball with Wetzel & Fotu.

Really hope that Sam Warrdenberg can be available later before this competition as he has similar shooting range as Loe.

Other potential inclusion for the 21 squad in my list.

SF Carlin Davison
PF Taane Samuel, Tom Vodanovich, Matt Freeman
C Sam Warrdenberg, Tyrell Harrison, Callum McRae, Tai Wynyard

From Stuff

Steven Adams is missing from Pero Cameron's 21-man extended Tall Black’s squad for the FIBA World Cup.

The NBA star’s omission won’t surprise many Kiwi basketball fans given the Memphis Grizzlies’ centre has never represented the national team due to not being available for selection. But Cameron has suggested it was more Adams’ knee injury that ruled him out of the World Cup - that takes place in the Philippines this August.

Thursday’s naming of the initial extended squad should "put to rest" ongoing speculation around Adams being part of this year’s World Cup campaign, Cameron said in an ironic blow for Tall Blacks supporters.

“We were having good and productive conversations with Steven earlier and he was considering a lot of things, but he suffered a pretty serious knee injury.
