Ben Simmons not playing at FIBA World Cup

Ben Simmons has pulled out and made himself unavailable for the World Cup.

Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets came to a joint decision this week, sources said, with the 26-year-old continuing his rehabilitation from a back injury that cut his 2022-23 NBA season short.

Not surprised since Ben hasn't been the same player with that back injury.

And I doubt if Lemanis will ever return, so BA really f***ed up there.

While I don't have a problem with Goorjian, I feel that Lemanis worked better for us.

Simmons is not aiming for Paris or any other tournament. He doesn't care about playing for the Boomers and never will. Let's just forget about him and concentrate on the guys who want to play for their country.

He hasn't got time for that. Much too busy with shirt off sinking 3's at a gym on TicToc this summer. Just plenty more BS from BS.

The Nets appear to be playing a strategy of weakening Simmons' tradable market value just as the Sixers did before them. One gets the impression that many clubs have given up on Simmons. The last thing that the Nets need is for Simmons to put in a good showing at an International tournament.

What if it helps him regain some form & he helps them make a deep playoff run?

The Nets are now officially saying Ben has a nerve impingement on the lower left hand side of his spine.

Not certain what that means but you would think he's out for a while.

So Simmons has ditched Rich Paul as his agent, for Bernie Lee.

Or did Rich Paul cut the ties after realising that Simmons was too much effort for too little reward?

I assume Rich Paul gets paid for the rest of Simmons current deal. He's never going to get another deal like that again (not even close) so not worth the time going forward I'd say.

I don't think he'll be out of the league or on minimums, but it'll be role player money - which in the current environment is still objectively lots of money, but nowhere near max which Paul likes
