Sixers playing reasonably well, showing heart, is it going to be good enough to beat a hawks team coming off a bad loss, but does have a better line up, not likely, hawks by 3 or the Illawarra coach could be in the firing line.

Agreed MC.

Lose and it's nail in the coffin, bye CJ I think.

0-5 is a bridge too far unless they plan on beating SEM and Perth after.

KET, just the circumstances too. If you're even a half decent team at home, winless, playing a team arriving from a recent road game, this is the game you need to get. If Adelaide lose, I just feel like it is the last bit of evidence for me that they just aren't capable of going further under current circumstances. I am not underestimating The Hawks, I just think that if Adelaide are even remotely capable, this is the situation they need to take advantage of.

This is not a good look. Wiley and Humphrey at least look like they're trying to work hard at both ends. As for the rest, where’s the 'playing for their lives’ mentality? Where’s the energy? The Sixers are making Hawks look good!

The simplest Hawk offense should be to get MM on the ball - all it takes is one shimmy and MM is beaten.

SMH.

Both sides having a shot, yes mistakes but entertaining. Cadee far better than Mccaron getting the ball around the floor, Humphries mist a couple easy shots but looks good, Wiley as well, Smith Milner do ok to.

Like watching a bunch of headless chooks running around - absolutely no one on the floor running or directing anything. Certainly Cadee did a better job in the second quarter than MM has done early in the third.

Good game, Humphries clear winner over Froling, Froling still hawks best though. When the Sixers don't play iso they are much better, their last quarter was great and Flowers certainly stood up.
Hawks, shakes head, it’s been to much of a boys club from head coach to assistant coaches and even bench players, Robinson one good game, Harvey not much all season, they need change at the top and sooner rather than later, how long is LJ mate going keep forking out money for that performance.
I actually like the commentary, the caller is very good, not yelling or screaming, calls the play very nicely. Wasn’t to much other crap talked about either.

Secret to Sixers is to leave Dech on the bench.
Awesome 13mins of basketball from Flowers to spark the Sixers. They have needed someone to Humphries, Wiley and Kell out.

If it's true about DJ being interested in Adelaide, then Sixtiesrockstar’s post about Dech and the bench is going to be a definite thing. They just look better with someone on court who is an offensive threat.

It's staggering that the Hawks continue to go with Jackomas as their head coach, and what makes things worse is there’s not one person on that coaching bench capable of being an NBL head coach if Illawarra decided to make a move. So in effect, they are stuck with Jackomas the rest of the season, a season where they are looking more than likely to finish last the second straight year. This team is so poorly coached and so disorganized it’s embarrassing. He’s so far out of his depth it just isn’t funny.

They’ve had problems with crowds in Wollongong forever, and if this losing continues - and it will while Jackomas is there - the only thing that will remain at the end is the few hundred diehards that show up every week no matter what. Dangerous times for the franchise.

Dech has been ass cheeks for past few years

the fact he hasnt developed anythin that resembles a offense games since he left the cats speak volumes

Bigger indictment is how CJ has literally cost sixers more games , by not giving flowers more leash

They lacked another offensive threat in the 4th and important parts of past few games ,and U have had flowers sitting there getting max bench minutes

Mind blowing , they could have potentially had at least 1 or 2 wins already

What do you have Assistant Coaches for. They are there to give advise.

Jackomas has Mallet there who is a long time supporter from Comets days.Rodgers and the other one are only there because of Comets background.Does not mean they are the right people to have there either.

What does Mallet do?.He is suppose to be a guru of coaching as well even though he does not say a lot.

Just because Jackomas spent a long time with Goorgian does not mean he is the right person for the job.

Assistants Shaun Rogers, Paul Mellett and Lachie Lonergan will continue on with their roles at the club while Justin Tatum - father of NBA star Jayson – has been added in a player development and assistant coaching capacity.

Jackomas is under contract until 2026 I doubt the Hawks want to pay out that many years.

Would we say Humphries was a clear winner over Froling?

Froling 21/5/2 72% in 31 minutes
Isaac 13/8/1 2 Blocks in 26 minutes at 44%

I thought Humphries was rather exposed lats night on D. Olbrich and Froling out worked him which caused a few brain explosion fouls. Id have Froling in a team before Humphries.

Dech has been told to be the Damo of the team and focus on defence which he has done quite well IMO. He is the best defender on the team. 36ers would be worse without him.

It took Kell and Flowers having career games and a 28 to 11 FT count to beat the second bottom team by 9. Clark was also injured just before half time and wasn't the same in the second half. This week will be interesting.

I think Cadee , Dech and McCarron all played like they are looking over their shoulder for DJ to take their minutes. 17 to 8 turnovers. This has been an issue since pre-season and DJ wont stop this from happening.

Mccarron kills me to watch, to start the season he was dribbling the air out of the ball slowing down all possibilities of fast break O and then now he's gone to the opposite of pushing too fast of a pace for him to handle and rushing into bad shots/decisions. Cadee is so much better offensively as a point guard it hurts. Having mccarron and dech on together is a nightmare for offence.

So you would rather have Cadee with 3 turnovers, 3 points 3 boards 4 assists ahead of MM with 9 points, 5 boards 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 turnover. Hmmm

McCarron leadership and control in last qtr was good. Only downside was inability to counter the full court trap. Teams will continue to employ this defence against Sixers until they can come up with a plan and exploit it for easy buckets. Maybe CJ should call in Joey for some tips as he was a master at breaking down traps and presses.

Wouldn't think there is anything stopping them from signing a 3rd import aswell as DJ, but depends on how fast they can get both signed.

Is there any point potentially paying salary cap tax if we Rae realistically out of the finals race?

The crowd last week was strong, hopefully the owner realises that a winning team will increase crowds or even maintain current numbers. That should equate to good revenue so hopefully they are encouraged to do both.

I did an analysis last year to likely revenue and they should have a lot to spend on players

Without trying to defend the owner in any way he did spend up big last season and that team finished 8th on the ladder so I can understand why he might want to pull back on the spending this season.

In saying that with the big money contracts of AC, Franks off the books, plus the buyout money the club got for AC plus Johnson's contract off the books too this season's team looks a bit too cheap.

Big spending on team last year = 9000+ average crowds plus we are advised big corporate sponsors.

If they want to replicate or improve that, need to have a team that is good to watch and competitive, with a chance at finals. Yes we beat Hawks but without improving team dramatically, risk being blown out by better sides.

Was announced at last week's game they have 6000 members and 9000 crowd. They should have a good war chest of $ if they maintain those numbers plus corporate sponsors.

Main issue doesn't seem to be having $ to spend, it seems to be how they are spent

NBL teams for the most part lose money and often big money so I wouldn't presume there are actually dollars to spend. Perhaps this season's team is losing less money than last season's team did and that is the balancing act.

Exactly, ^^^^ owners run basketball clubs as wealthy man's hobby, kings might make a few dollars but have big dollar sponsors, it’s a big money city and a great team. The breakers owner is trying to unload his team, I think that’s telling you something.

It’s very disappointing as basketball fan, we need more Smiths.

Is the league making money from TV yet? Last I heard the NBL were paying production costs and sharing income. Is this still the case?

Portion of tv profits (if there are any) should be shared with clubs who produce the product

I think the track record is pretty clear under current ownership. We spent big last year, but have we done so any other year? Most imports have been scrap metal and we haven't been able to hang onto Aussie talent long enough to pay them big money. Only thing we've spent money on is paying out coaches we've sacked!

The Sixers have actually been one of the highest spending teams over the past 4-5 years. Where they bugger it up is on who, Humphries 1.0 was a 2 yr deal for $400k p.a., McCarron last year of his 3 yr deal for $350k p.a. Then you've got DJ likely on a good $300k p.a. and last season Franks was said to be on $450k and Cleveland on $400k.

Then as you mentioned Beantown there was the 2021-22 season when we were paying 3 HC's too, CJ, Henry & Joey. All JVG's handiwork with the last two deals from him coming to an end this season, McCarron and CJ's coaching contract.
