Pay rise and extra training

From Nbl.com, it looks like the umps are being asked to train more to improve the standard in the Nbl.

There must have been a big pay rise for the umps!!! They need to watch the Nba ref's for training sessions - these guys are pro's at there jobs.

"The referees are very satisfied with the new arrangements and agree that securing their employment conditions for the next three years is an important step to providing certainty and more importantly, a solid platform to build from when discussions happen again in three years time."

Of course they are pro's at their jobs IT IS their job full time umpiring.

Our guys still have to work for a living so no it is not that much of a payrise - work it out players are professional athletes - the referees work for a living to support themselves.

any payrise is warranted

Well I cant see the words pay rise or increase in that document.

In addition to referee coach's evaluations, each NBL team coach is given the opportunity to discuss a particular referee's performance with the appropriate referee coach and/or the NBL Referees Manager.

This has been happening for a little while at least this season and the last, I hear Stacker, Fisher & Joyce know most of the Referee coaches intimately and will probably be sending and receiving christmas cards between each other they are in contact that regularly :>
