While the Singapore Lions would seem like a perfect name, unfortunately the national football team of Singapore is called the Lions, so I doubt they will repeat as people in Singapore identify the Singapore Lions with football and poor performance on an international arena.

I guess that depends if they can secure sponsorship by SIA, which I doubt.

I like Singapore Slings though.

Singapore Islanders
Captial City Lions
Singapore Durians
Singapore Rickshaws
Singapore "Lee Kwan Yue"'s

Real Medrid (SPelling) Have a soccer team and basketball team called the same so I guess the lions is probably what it is.

Isn't Real Madrid a brand name though? As in a private company who happens to own a football and basketball team among other things? In which case, Singapore would be different.

Singapore Merlion which is a cross between a Mermaid and a Lion.

Real Madrid Basketball club and Soccer club are the same club. Just like the Lightning asnd the 36ers are owned by the same "club". They also cater for other sports such as golf.

Phizzer, you must be loving NBL heading up your way, will you be cranking some season tickets?

In regards to your Real Madrid question I'm pretty sure Real is Spanish for Royal, and Madrid is obviously the name of the city. Loads of teams in Spanish speaking countries start with Real, I saw Real Sociedad play in a Champs League match in Northern Spain a few years back for instance.

Could be pirates, except real life pirates are in issue in Singapore, especially that bit of ocean between here and Indonesia, lot's of piracy, drug trafficking, robbery, kidnapping, so not sure how that will go down.

Save that dirty hookers name when Thailand or Philippines enter the league.

Billo, season tickets? I'm hanging out for a job offer ;)
