NH: TV shows that were never given a chance

To continue the run of Friday non-hoops reply-accumulating threads:

Which TV shows were never given the chance they deserved?

For me, Freaks and Geeks. Was shown fairly late at night (11:30pm or so) despite being a quality show IMO and hasn't been spotted since on FTA.

I actually quite enjoyed "Duckman"
when i saw it on TV - always bloody late at night

Main character was voiced by Jason Alexander from Seinfeld.

Very similar humour to 'Family Guy' (to which I am now hooked following the posts on here a couple of weeks ago!)

Duckman for me too

Although it was on quite a bit maybe it just had no more eps to show?

Early Bird, shows that DESERVE a chance!

For shows that are still going, but don't deserve to be - I just don't get Deal or No Deal.

And on game shows, it's sad that Wheel of Fortune died.

Is the Price is Right still going?

Game shows.....for me nothing beats Blankety Blanks with Graham Kennedy!

His banter with the other cast members suck as ugly Dave Gray was superb!

Last Comic Standing -

i think it had one episode, late night, odd day (monday/tuesday). Similar to the contender i suppose (never watched the contender), but for comedians. Massive in the US.

"I Can't Believe They Invented It", off the Simpsons (and hosted by well-known actor Troy McClure).

Deserved its own spinoff series IMO. :)

Anything with Peter Coombs.

The Saturday afternoon sticky tape show on channel Ten - surely NBL will rate better than that shite!

International Hide and Seek championships

Ever seen that Pommie show on Fox where two old ladies go to some disgusting sloth's house and clean it? Great telly that!

But back to the question at hand - in all seriousness they should bring back 'Breakers', was on after Sports Tonight, greatest ever Aussie Drama

Chances - and if you remember this show, you will know why. Soft porn cunningly disguised as a soap drama on at about 10.30 at night.

HA got to love Chances

I remember watching ET one day and they were running a story on the "aussie soap porn" They showed a couple of clips and they used a little cartoon Kangaroo to block out the 'naughty bits'!

OK Fair comment. I just enjoyed it and wish it were still on. I'd rather repeats of that than some of the other crappy repeats that are on.
Or even those stupid bloody games after midnight....

Can't believe I forgot the Micallef Pogram - easily one of the most hilarious shows ever. Have got Season 2 on DVD and it is brilliant.

That networks dump pure genius for the tripe we watch today is unforgiveable.

popular- was a show about high school in america with all the stereotypical teen characters and a neat litle moral at the end of each episode.. Was on during school holidays sometimes.. I loved it!!

One tree hill -(refer to thread on it).

Micallef tonight -IMO better than Rove Live at its best. Rove is amusing and entertaining. Micallef was straight out funny....he would invite in a big name aussie guest..and then send them strainght out again without any interview, hilarious.

Fresh Prince -old school classic, like a cooler, black version of the nanny.

Teachers - One of the funniest shows Ive ever seen. Set at a Bristol High School in England it starred Andrew Lincoln of This Life fame.
It went for 4 seasons in the UK but I think only 2 of them have been shown here on the ABC.
Thank god for DVD.

My wife and I absolutely SPAT it when they said that last man standing was getting the axe.

It was the classic "It's funny because it's true" comedy. A bit of real life thrown right back at you. Brilliantly written and well acted. Should have got at least another series as it was just starting to get a following.

TV Stations have no idea!

DICKO,

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything, but the lady who wrote Last Man Standing is Marieke Hardy, who IMO has one of the better blogs going around here.

Warning: it contains coarse language, adult themes and sexual references - but these are what make it so entertaining. Thoroughly NSFW example.

Channel 10 flooded everyone with Good News Week stuff to the point that people hated it. Too many spinoff shows diluted the product entirely
