Great Promotion Technique by the Blaze
Calling on all Rookies:
Gold Coast Blaze needs an 11th player and it could be you!
Imagine being the next Blaze protégé, learning from your heroes as they shake up the competition in their first-ever season in the National Basketball League.
The Rookie of the Year competition is a hoop shooting challenge to be run by the head coach of the Blaze, Brendan Joyce, who is also an Assistant Coach of the Australian Boomers side, and will be staged in a series of five tryouts at various shopping centre locations around the Gold Coast over as many weeks.
The comp is open for all school kids on the Gold Coast and the winner will join the team as they run onto the court for the showdown against the Brisbane Bullets in their first ever game in the National Basketball League, held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on September 19.
Five finalists, one from each tryout, will go on to compete in the Grand Final at the annual Gold Coast Show on Saturday September 1 from midday-1pm.
The finalists will all receive a Blaze Club season family membership that will allow two adults and two children to see all 15 home games.
The finalist chosen as the official Rookie of the Year will win the once in a lifetime opportunity to run out onto the court as the 11th player of the Blaze on their League debut, wearing their very own team uniform, be introduced to the crowd as the Official Rookie and sit on the bench with the team for the entire game on September 19.
The Rookie of the Year will also be publicly acknowledged on the Official Blaze website with their own player profile and they will hold the title for the entire season.
