Ninnis with Breheney.

Anyways - the media gets it wrong sometimes -
But Goorjian and Breheney are names re-occurring today from various sources and I would take it as genuine interest.

one station mentioned jan as a replacement for scotty - maybe the story was askew and should have been a replacement for valk

player review would be interesting.

couple of players better credentialled than the coach.

foley / sam

foley has been close to coach k when at duke - has seen what a good show can deliver

valk will go down as a title winning coach - but this years showed that it was chris' ground work IMO.

that guard combo of phillips, foley and camino with marino as back up was a killer combo.

While it is easy to bag Valk for her coaching, the reality is that the Lightning were far short of the quality of players that Bulleen, Sydney and Canberra put on the court this season. Just by adding another quality 190 - 195cm player to the team quite possibly would have been the difference between 4th and 6th place. However, it is the player management that determines how successful those players will be.

As far as being a title winning coach, I think that I could have coached that team to a title with the players they had, so definately lucky for Valk that Lucas put the team together.

Ushiro only one thing to say and that is good coaches attract good players! And the championship belongs to Chris and waht a champion bloke he is!

Amanda I must agree with you. Vicki was given a team that was full of talent and won a title. Word around the WNBL is that new players were reluctant to move to the Lightning with Valk coaching. IMO Jan would not return to coaching. Therefore the obvious choice would be Steve Breheny who has successfully coached WNBL teams.

Any Locals that may step up?

Simon Prichard? (almost coaching them at the abl level anyway)
Tania Dhu? (knows the players knows the situations)
Sharon Simonds? (a good coach that can maintain a strong program)

Would be great to see a local coach get stuck into the job, Or great to see Dean Kinsman back in Adelaide

An outsider with precious little in the way of baggage and nepotistic tendencies would be a good move so God forbid a Prichard or Kinsman in the role.

Some great points made - there's not alot of money floating around the WNBL so the coach is likely to be the most significant factor in the young up and comers moving to teams.

Anyone thing Cheryl Chambers is a chance at Adelaide?

It would seem from what else is happening that a quality coach would attract quality players. We have some talent but I don;t think they were managed that well.A good team depends on team players and I think Adelaide (Both teams) are lacking in this area. We can only improve over the summer.Players with injuries do make for a stable team roster.

Who is Dean going to attract? Not exactly known for successful recruiting or managing players or great coaching and isn't that what you are looking for? Don't forget that poor coaching and an inability to recruit well has led you to this place and out of the finals for the first time in 18years.
