Australia never tried for Ioannis Georgallis?

How come Australia never tried to get Ioannis Georgallis to at least tryout with the team?

He played with Greece, but surely he could have switched to Australia if he was invited, considering he never made the Greek team at a major tournament.

Just curious on this one, he's a lock down defender.
