Conger suspended 1 game

The NBL's Game Review Panel (GRP) has charged Illawarra Hawks import Demitrius Conger with striking Sydney Kings star Brad Newley in their match up on Thursday night.

The incident which occurred with 16 seconds remaining in overtime was seen by the GRP to be intentional, with high contact occurring above the shoulders and medium impact resulting in a two-game suspension.

Conger and the Hawks will have the opportunity to take an early guilty plea, which would see the penalty reduced to a one-game suspension.

The Hawks organization are set to contest the ruling, seeking to have the one-game suspension downgraded to "double platter" (hot food) penalty for the Brooklyn-native, which would see him bring two-premium offerings for the postgame spread.

I think it was a malicious act by Conger.

It was a legal screen, Conger took exception and struck Newley high with an elbow. That could have been much worse.

2 weeks isn't enough. Also Newley didn't see it coming, he was facing away.

Whats interesting is, no Kings player confronted Conger. Carrera would probably have killed Conger on the spot.
