Great game, these two teams often produce crackers. The poor USFs from Chapman aside, this game was very well reffed and helped make it a great spectacle.

Illawarra still alive, the 3-7 bracket really tightening up. Huge game for Adelaide tomorrow night.

It's always been an issue with the ref's maybe in the last decade? The kids stepping to the next level are advised by those that may have had a few NBL games under their belt. The old skool has been their and failed in terms of advisement. Mal a great ref. No longer involved. So from bottom up now it's a failure.
The refs generally no have no empathy with the players. They call them by their first names but in reality they won't know them as a player personally.
The old days mean that everyone would sit down at the after game and talk. Everyone.
That doesn't happen anymore. The refs get so critiqued ( because they are so bad) that makes then unavailable. Of course if you drop em you may get someone worse right now. Catch 22, but it's now getting far worser if there is such a word.

The play of the game was Clarke threading the needle pass to find Kay who kicked it to Martin for the 3.
Cairns could not have played any better. Hawks too good in the end.
Both teams shot the lights out, so defence by both teams was sub par.
Either team could squeak into the 4, and prove upset value.

Entertaining game, Conger is a very good player. Refs were good and people should concentrate more on the basketball.

Fearne's comments were interesting re. the Gliddon tech.

"All I'll say is this - if that’s how guys are going to get 'teed’ up in a moment like that, then I better see a tech every single game when a player reacts," he said.
“That was just ridiculous in a game like that, for that to happen at that moment and that’s what’s disappointing.
“There’ll have to be some explanation to me from the NBL and why that was called at that time."

Clearly he didn't watch the Sixers game v United when Shorter and Childress got techs in the last 20 seconds. Players DO seem to be getting techs every time they react!! Good luck getting an explanation Fearney - all they will say is the call was 100% correct.

Historically that's not how the league has called techs for reactions. They have been really lenient, bordering on cowering and cowardly when players have gotten in their ears in the past. But hey, it's 2017 don't you know

First possession: Hodgson jumped from out of bounds to get the offensive rebound and score.

Last possession: Should've been an unsportsmanlike on Abercrombie.

Scoochies run of scoring mixed with poor shot selection (when he should be making the extra pass)certainly dried up Gliddons momentum....
