Melb v Syd Nov 4

It's the eve of the Melbourne Cup and what better time for an NBL game to stop the nation.

The bookies have Melbourne as favourites over an undefeated Sydney. Melbourne, whose early form resembled the form of the Parabadoo Prancers before they withdrew from the Asian League, have won 2/3 last games. A stirring win over their cross-town latte sipping rivals saw Shawn Long dominate with 12 boards and 31 points combining with the "Earl of Surl" who racked up 24.

Sydney have slain all opponents, but have their swords been blunted? The Bogieman has been a class above others and all his team-mates have contributed well. Newly (Sixers spelling) has made outside the arc his and Tate is a human brick sh!thouse on legs. The Sixers pushed them to OT on the weekend so they are not un-invincible.

It's hard to find too many passengers on the Kings' roster. Even Lucas Walker is doing his bit as his continues his journey around each of the NBL clubs.

There are a plethora of delicious matchups tonight. Bogut-Long, Ware-Trimble, even the bench player matchups are exciting.

Melbourne think they will win, but Sydney are 6-0 for a reason. Sydeney all the way tonight.

Sydney. Single overtime. 5-10.

Melbourne still look a little less than convincing. At the moment they don't have the depth to deliver consistently.

I'd love to take the win, but I think our run ends tonight. Long/Bogut should be interesting though - Bogut thoroughly dominated him last season, so I expect him to come out aggressive and try and get one back tonight.

Agree with AngusH, I think the Kings great start to the season ends tonight... Melbourne, especially Bubbles, tend to lift their efforts when playing Sydney...

I'm hoping that coming out soft against Adelaide have fixed that particular attitude and the Kings come out tough and get the W as this game will be a big test for them...

They seem a completely different team from last season with so much more buy-in, even with Dickhead Kickert, sorry, Daniel Kickert, probably grabbing more rebounds already than he did for the first half of last season...

Long is on a roll, at least offensively, will be a great match either way...

I could see the 6'4 Tate go to Long at times, he’s long, strong and athletic. Lisch would’ve been very handy tonight defensively. A lot of the match ups could be fascinating. Sydney D v Melbourne O, who would have thought Sydney D lol. I’d think the OT game might take a bit out of Sydney, Melbourne by four.

I think Melbourne - more desperate than Sydney.

Long will need to step out tonight - has been more inside this year.

Barlow can defend Tate. The question is whether Trimble and Long can guard the pick and roll

Sydney and the Boogeyman can not defend the on-ball, so CG43 will have a field day.

Long will prove he is the true MVP.

As Melbourne always says: "Go hard or go to Sydney!"

Melbourne by 10 pts.

Taylor in tonight. Interesting if they run he and Ware together at times. If he's the defender that he's been hyped to be, that could cause Melo and CG43 some problems.

I think Bogut is going to stay at home, even in P+R situations. They'll let Long shoot the three rather than roll to the basket for lobs and easy scores. Go with the percentages, which is what Weaver has done well so far.

Agree. Weaver designed the Boomers system of bigs sitting back giving up the midrange jumpers.

Think it will all come down to how well Long hits from the perimeter. If he forces the Kings out of their favoured system they will struggle. DJ exposed them in the 4th last game when he started hitting those shots.

"Agree. Weaver designed the Boomers system of bigs sitting back giving up the midrange jumpers."

I don't want to turn this into another Boomers debate, but it seemed that they gave up more points than previously, using that strategy?

I guess having Bogut camped out in the paint works to his strength.

I'm hoping My Captain Double-Double Long can get the job done.

Mayberry should've been sacked or heavily reprimanded back in 2005 after *that* infamous Cairns game. Nothing happened though as there is a shallow pool of refs. The USFs were correct. That doesn't excuse poor refereeing which lost them control of the game, but Sydney shot themselves in the foot with those plays.

I still can't get over the lack of common sense and/or basic arithmetic with the 5 second violation. 16.5 on the clock, runs down to 12.9 and nobody bats an eye after the call was made. Either the call was wrong or the time on the clock needed to be changed. Amateur hour.

When Bogut announced his intention to play NBL, someone infamously said he would damage his Legacy. - Obviously he had to prove them wrong. - He also had to make some pretence of justifying the awards he was obviously promised.
Now, he doesn't have to pretend to care anymore - and he's playing like the "I'm too good for this league" dickhead we always knew he was.
His team was burned for 107 points - and his direct opponent ripped them a new ass - but okay Bogut doesn't need to play defence.

Are there other forums I can participate in without those two fucktards."

Oh the delicious irony of some pre-pubescent anon calling out other posters.

I previously posted under my own ID, and I can assure you it is chromosome-deficient trash like you that spoils the experience. If I ever again feel the need to be insulted by some inbred meth-baby, I'll go and hang out at the local skate-park.

I'd be carful bagging Bogut prematurely, he still can play. The is not only about points so using them to bag a player shows little basketball knowledge. Get back to me when Long has played ten plus years in in the nba and made millions.

Yes and so are yourself. You can post in ten years after Longs nba career or lack of.

The whole "awards he was promised" comment nicely reflects the level of intellect you possess. The voting system and how MVPs are awarded is well known.

I wish you weren't anonymous so I would know which comments to ignore in the future, but as it stands you're just another anon user who makes it hard to take anything any other anon user says seriously either.
