The @SEMelbPhoenix and import centre Keith Benson have mutually agreed to part ways, the club's CEO, Tommy Greer, has told @NBL Media.
Benson will not suit up for SEM’s game against the NZ Breakers on Sunday night.
about half a season too late, good to see Tommy pulling the trigger! Hopefully, Braun/Singler are next on the block... Race for 4th is going to be tight!!

Well it's late, but hopefully they’ve got a decent replacement. Koberulz thinks it’s hard to recruit someone to Melbourne, tough sell of a city, but hopefully they find someone.

There was talk earlier in the season it was prohibitive to cut him. Not sure how true that was? It could be that he's a greed to a payout deal?

Maybe if they started him alongside Pineau and played him decent minutes he might have had a chance to find consistency... head scratcher when they were in desperate need for an impact big.

Put up 20 and 8 in 18 minutes versus Long in the round 7 clash vs United. Seemed to have some moves and offered a big body down low. Surely he offered more than Pineau but he just didn't get enough minutes. Was there a personality clash?
he was a great post defender and rim protector - i'm sure they knew he was never going to be a high volume scorer but he was NOT at all a scoring presence in the NBL

He had the worst plus/minus of any player in the league who's played more than 50 minutes this season. It was spoken about in pre-season and didn't really improve, he simply didn't seem to understand what the Phoenix were doing and had to be constantly directed by teammates.
With the exception of against Melbourne he was just a negative for the team when he was on the floor.

Osborne played half season in d1 bigV and was a over average. Clearly just around for training opportunities, nowhere near nbl standard as local let alone import.

That game against United Benson played one of the best halves of basketball you'll see in the NBL this season
But, sounds like a matchup issue. Mitchell must be uncomfortable using him in most situations.

Is there actually any confirmation of Motum being cut? I haven't seen any reports, he's on a two-year deal and he recently had a pretty decent game in the Euroleague?

I can't find anything to substantiate it. Surprisingly Motum is third in his position on Valencia's depth chart so basically a 11th/12th man.
