NBL Stars/Marquee program???

With no concrete plans for next star prospects in NBL21, should the NBL use the money set aside for the program to help keep star imports or marquee like Cotton, Ware, Kay etc???

I mean who else would the NBL target in the next stars program?? It looks like highly rated kids are leaving their colleges and signing opting to go the G-League's route... I’m sure if the NBL Clubs with marquee imports and locals, pay the max that they can, the NBL could/should step in and top it off...only for this season (with the option of the next season, pending this covid situation).

If we combine the salaries for Lamelo Ball, RJ Hampton, and Terry Armstrong (don’t know how much he was on), added onto the max each club could pay their players, after pay cuts, would that be enough to keep 4-6 marquee players (worst case scenario we lose that many??) in the NBL for this season only?

NCAA to allow players to receive 3rd party payments. Next Star program is dead.

Meant to add there was also a proposal a few years ago where Boomer/ Opals would receive payment from BA to stay in Australia, you could imagine how that went down. OP suggestion is similar vein. However it doesn't work the same way as Lamello go the Hawks SLAM sponsorship. Nobody cares that Nick Kay is in the NBL in a commercial sense.

Yet nobody cares who the Hawks are in a commercial sense.
