Imports Safe/Not Safe

Melbourne - Safe (Stays with 1 import)
SE Melbourne - Safe (Sykes & Moore)
Cairns - Safe (Scott & Cam)
Sydney - Safe (Casper & Jarrell)
Illawarra - Safe (Harvey & Simon)
Brisbane - Safe (Vic Law)
Adelaide - Safe (Brandon Paul)
Breakers - Safe (Iverson)
Perth - Safe (Cotton & Mooney)*

NOT SAFE
Brisbane - Orlando Johnson
Adelaide - Sloan out, Crocker might be replaced if Humphries injury serious
Breakers - Patterson

CRAZY SCENARIOS
Perth - Cotton & Mooney (Safe)
Cotton gets naturalized but the import they bring in might get the boot (Don't believe he will, just crazy)

Import (Combo Guard can shoot, facilitate & defender) takes pressure off of Cotton .. he’s still great but as you can see his percentages last couple of games been down to him having to do everything offensively

When Cotton gets naturalised, by the time an import gets out of quarantine they will need to play 9 games to qualify for finals so they will likely have to stick with whoever they choose.

Crocker will not get the boot.... its nearly half way through the season. He is a good team mate apparently and plays defence, at lease he adds something to the team.

He's also just taking up space on the bench.

Stith is an injury replacement doing exactly what Taylor did for Sydney last season.

The reaction has been different though.

Stith and Taylor are not at the same level as players though. Stith is a Big V / NBL1 player.

I wouldn't count Stith as the 2nd import.. doesn’t really play at least Taylor played & contributed to wins also Sydney didn’t believe Lisch was gonna come back that’s why he stayed on the roster and they tried to get him eligible for Finals

Would hawks keep Adel if he was an import, he's on import money.

WTF does "import money" even mean? Why does that phrase exist in an era where Aussies are actually good enough to earn money now? Goulding, Bogut, Landale, Kay, both Websters, Johnson, Humphries, Sobey, Creek, and probably quite a few others I can't think of have all earned what would generally be considered "import money" over the past couple of years.

Plenty of "cheap third import" guys, on the other hand, would not have been earning what would generally be considered "import money".

There is no such thing, anymore, as "import money".

For clarity KR the Websters are not Australian...

It's a fair point from KR, on most teams the imports aren’t the highest paid players anymore.

"It's a fair point from KR, on most teams the imports aren't the highest paid players anymore."

Highest Paid Players by each team (Yearly Based not full contract total)

Illawarra - Local (Adel)
Sydney - Import (Ware)
Melbourne - Local (Goulding/Landale) maybe (Hopson)
Perth - Import (Cotton)
SE Melbourne - Local (Creek) now maybe (Broekhoff)
Cairns - Import (Oliver)
Brisbane - Import (Law)
Breakers - Import (Patterson)
Adelaide - Import (Sloan) now Local (Humphries)

Imports are still the highest paid players, local talent has gotten better due to covid we get some top guys to play

Off course Adel playing for peanuts, lmao. He's on top $$ as a local. All those other players mentioned are on top money and perfume for it, Adel is an 8th man.

Cam Oliver's body language at start of game is terrible. Commentary was all over why he has slow starts. Wonder what problem really is, once he gets going he seems to forget whatever is bothering him. But really looks unhappy there and probably a good reason Cairns are struggling.

Well obviously he's not performing at what he’s paid but you who do you think is the top paid player on the squad ?

Simon at the Hawks should not be safe.

He is a good defender but doesn't score enough or is bein g coached not to take more shots I am not sure.

Once Harvey and Jessup are tied up he needs to add some scoring punch but he doesn't

Simon was brought in to defend as Harvey cannot defend a traffic cone.

You don't need imports to do the bulk of the scoring anymore.
Newbill missing from Cairns has shown that they are missing his impact on D more than the offensive end, Yes he could score but Cairns aren't defending the Washington Generals

Actually Tai Webster is on probably more coin that Patterson and Humphries more than Sloan.
Thats over half the league with locals the highest paid players on each squad.

I have said this with Simon for awhile. Yes, great defence but can't shoot and teams are leaving him and getting his missed shots. With Deng Adel on as well, you end up with 3 shooters.
