What is the logic of having a qualifying tournament for classics? Why not use summer results and give refs, players and coaches a break

Because the current BSA staff have no idea what they're doing and their hand picked Committee doesn't either.

Give them a break?
The comp has only been going for 9 weeks and they have he 2 games off already in that time.

If you count up how much of a break kids actually get, No games in January no games last 3 weeks of December plus games missed due to school holidays or public holidays 25% of the year is a break from basketball.
And that's if your team makes finals.

if you dont have the tourny then teams focus on winning far too much from rd 1 of summer. better off having something once comp settles which is about now.

Think its a good idea although does make state champs somewhat redundant down the track.

With the new DL division with pools of 5 teams it is a 10 week summer season which means with pools of 5, every team only plays 8 games and no finals. You see teams who have just had one of there byes, and then also had a bye due to a regional basketball tournament on meaning their were no courts to use. They play a game and then have another bye as the regradings are done after 5 rounds and new pools start up. Then along comes Easter so another bye. Finally get to play a game and then comes school holidays. In the DL div in the lead up to winter season there is teams who will have sporadically played 2-3 games in 8 weeks plus trainings being compromised. There is no continuity so team are starting from scratch again every couple of weeks when they finally play a game. Having hundreds of kids not playing every week due to byes caused by the pools of 5 team is wasteful.

What was the reason for the pool system being introduced this season. Lack of refs?

There was a push from some people to have 6 team pools but this fell on deaf ears

Because BSA are of the thought that change is good. Even when they stuff it up completely. And ignore the fact its been tried and it was unsuccessful for Div 3 and below 10 years ago.

And they had 6 team pools back then.

Only explanation for 5 team pools is they're just making 10 team comps. The pools aren't even graded correctly. It's a complete balls up.

And it means less revenue for BSA. Less games = less income. They're a shambles and its just getting worse.

The other week one of rockets lower team had a bye scheduled on the Saturday which was last game for the pool before regarding. As they missed a game the week before makeup games were scheduled on the Sunday which was first game of the new pool. The Rockets team "won" the bye and had another game off. 2 byes in 2 games. And I say "won" as that is how bsa referenced it in their messages to teams who got the bye when new draw came out.

I hadn't put much though into lost revenue from having byes, but that is thousands of dollars every week in game and spectator fees bsa has given away in lost revenue, the stadiums are already in use and booked. They would get approx an extra $20000 (probably more) revenue over the 10 weeks with no byes. A good way to try and get more money to the refs. Plus with less foot traffic their is less money going into the canteens, etc. And no finals in DL div means another lot of money from spectators lost along with the added promotion from the kids competing. The goal of bsa should be to try and put as many games on the court as they can every week.
The totals were based on 8 players a team in game fees plus 1x parent paying spectator with over 20 odd teams having a bye every week.

How bout the fact juniors are playing less games yet the North fees have gone up!

North fees are up ecause they have finally moved from the 70s and include second training costs in their fees like every other club. Previously teams had to pay this on top of their fees.

Also Liam Flynn doesn't come cheap.
