Laurie Watterson retires

Great piece by Matt McQuade on Kings team manager Laurie Watterson who has retired. He's one of the long-tenured NBL club staff you take for granted always being there but never really notice.

Saw Brad Rosen give him a shout out in one game.

Great to see such stories.

Was he a full time employee or a part timer?

Both over the years. Most recently? I couldn't tell you.

The time that Watterson put into the club and beyond the club, however, far outweighed the time he was actually paid for even when he was paid for full time hours.

The bloje deserves this piece.

Any younger members of the basketball community who wabt to work at the club level of the pro game would be wise to follow his example. Volunteer your time and effort and show them that what you contribute is far more valuable than what they could get elsewhere. Give your club your passion and they'll take care of you.

Lozz is a great guy and such a dedicated person to the Comets and the Kings. Enjoy a full retirement now. The kids and grand kids and a few nice reds.
It will be a shame not to see you on court on game days. Huge thanks for you loyalty and above and beyond.

The irony of Perthworld starting a topic for a water and towel boy is beyond me. Such a hypocrite.

34 years apparently. Good effort.
I had never heard of him until today.
I don't normally read Sydney Kings articles.

I remember Eric Watterson though.

Haha, that didn't take long.

Not all water boys are created equal. ;)

Yeah some of us have done actually worked in basketball as a volunteer like Lozz for a long time. Rather than sit out in the bleachers being an arsehole. Enjoy the pine.

I'm confused. Isn't Perthworld just Perthworld. Uses an avatar doesn't he?

No Perthworld switches between his his and the anonymous sniping person to support his own weak attacks. He can't move on.
Lozz is a great guy and a good friend. Well deserved retirement mate.

A post about a great bloke who did so much for his club and the league turns into a pissing contest about nick names etc...

This board is full of ass clowns in the highest order.

Curiously there is a particular bitter individual who was banned and now posts as an anon who accuses others of posting anonymously. Go figure.

This sums up Lozza's contribution to the mighty Sydney Kings.
