Good G League player. Couldn't cut it in high level Europe where he really struggled to create efficient offense or make shots consistently. Not ever going to be much of a defender at that size. Strange fit with him and Adams. Both need the ball. Neither plays much defense. Going to be a long year in Tassie. Real issue is how bad the local roster is. Hard to get a table setter like Maggette to be effective when there's no one to set the table for.

This team will be in the cellar this year. It's not that Magette and Adams aren't good players, it's that theyre two very similar players with defensive and size weaknesses and the rest of the team is bargain bin.

I think McVeigh starting at the 3 and an import big - probably someone like Ben Moore. Not a bad lineup at all, though it will be interesting to see how the backcourt defends.

Recruiting over winter for a Tasmanian-based team isn't likely to be easy. If Cairns have their struggles, not like JackJumpers would be in a better position. They'd have to overpay or pick players wanting opportunities. Not appalling for a first season - got some rotation guys who can start if needed.

Each time I make that exact point the Tasmanian contingent here take it personally!

The fact they scored Magnay is a big win for them, they're doing well recruiting wise all things considered.

Yeah - the 3 I was thinking of more a swingman, but there is definitely a need for a John Collins (Atlanta) type - solid 4.

Proof will be in the pudding, re how they go. Have enjoyed the development of the list. SEM recruited Creek first up - which gave them a kick. JJ's recruited Magnay along with some solid other players.

Don't think it is a great list but I do not think it is rubbish either.

Looking forward to the season.

Serie A is a good league, quite similar to NBL. But plenty of good imports have come off the bench in the NBL, not because they can't play but because it works for their team.

Magnay / Froling
Import / Krslovic / Bairstow
McVeigh / Steindl
Adams / McDaniel
Magette / Weeks

One more good import and they can be competitive. If he's a guy who can shoot they will be able to really spread the floor and utilise Magette's playmaking. You'd imagine they might make a slow start to the season though.

I am not sure whether the Import / Next Star spots go to the PG or Power Forward spot. Think Magette and Adams make the guard spots strong.

Reckon the roster is missing the big swingman who can score. Should this go as an import to the 4/5 spot or the next star?

If the JJ's fill those spots it is a solid list...bit to go with the roster to come together. Interesting week or two to come.

Wasn't saying that at all Beach baller, just without the import big there would be a lot of reliance on Magnay. If the import big is legit it should free Magnay up to play where I reckon he is more suited ie a mobile 4.

JJ's to me look strong at 2-3 positions was just after balance. ie Adams, McDaniel, McVeigh, Mikhailoski, Stiendl

Interested in your thoughts on the roster - it has been interesting to watch its development.
