Wildcats @ Taipans - NYE

7pm Local, 8pm AEDT, 5pm WST. ESPN; Kayo; Sky Sports NZ.

Hodgson will play. Norton too but on restricted minutes.

For the snakes, Marshall Nelson will suit up.

I'm just happy there's a game to watch on tv.

Hope it's close but Cats should handle this one comfortably. If the Snakes stay within 5-6 points they're doing very well.

Predictions, Luuuc? Wildcats, at home, a chance, do you think?

Keen to see if Hodgson can bring some of his Bullets game tonight. He has been disappointing at Perth, so far. And with Norton's return, what Zunic's role will look like.

I really like some of the Taipans recruits, especially McCall, but IMO, still much too light to bother Perth.

It will be a snowball of shots - Vic, Bryce, Frazier can't wait to put them out.

Over 170 points and Wildcats to win by 11.

Perth by plenty even if McCall is in. These teams fight in different weight categories.

Great to be able to watch a game though, just hope snakes can show something.

Cairns typically play well NYE. They beat Perth in 2018. But if McCall is out they are in trouble.

Perth have so far superior players and will probably get the win but this team should eat cairns. Disappointing so far except Cotton coming good.
Forde certainly doing a good job in cairns, just not same quality players.

Cairns had no business being in this game, so some encouraging signs I think. Got sloppy with the ball Q1/Q2 to help get Perth back in it (along with Cotton brilliance) but definitely some positives to take away. With McCall this is probably a W.

Nice little run here but should be too little too late

Because just then Forde bought his board onto the court and basically had a timeout while the Cats are preparing to shoot 2.
All coaches need to stop taking the piss but it will keep happening while they're allowed to.

Norton and Travis, they just do what's required. Good game overall, both sides can take some positives. Kenny over dribbles the ball, hurt Cairns badly.

Perth won't, or shouldn't, make top 4 as it stands. The schedule may be their saviour. If they make the four I highly doubt they win a series unless they flick Frazier and get in a 5 who can score in the paint

I was down on Pinder all last season: terrible shot selection, too much hero-ball and an evolving collection of haircuts that got more bizarre as the season went on. I thought he'd be a disaster at Cairns but he's actually not. He moves the ball around more, fights for rebounds and actually tries to play some D. Not sure what happened? Maybe Coach Forde took him on a guided meditation retreat to reflect on the transient nature of life and the importance of playing in the moment? Or just sat him down, read him the riot act and served him a big helping of humble pie. Either way it seems to be working.

No it's just fit and situation, the offense and team/coach better suits his game that what was going on in Adelaide. Most of the time it isn’t the player talents that are bad it’s just the role they are in sometimes that can amplify how good or bad they look

Yes coaches make and break players, good coaches work with the cattle they got and make it into a unit. Forde looking ok early in season and players playing for him, much less selfish than last season.

This is a very weird gloat.

You were near full strength coming up against the bottom team missing their 2 best players.

You made Deng look like an All Star.

It was only some individual brilliance that saved the Wildcats not team oriented offence.

You may want to tone down the 'Ring' expectations.

Not saying that was a great performance by Perth, BUT, they hadn't played since December 19. They flew out knowing it was 6+ weeks away from family, were put in hotel quarantine in Adelaide (their call), had that game postponed the day of, game changed to Cairns in 3 days, another flight and quarantine then game.

Not exactly a smooth preparation and the potentially the reason for the horrible start. Take away the 17-0 start and I think the Cats win this by more.

Not a great or convincing performance by any stretch but it was still a win.
Cotton was goatly when needed.
Travers had plenty of positive impact.
Jesse continued his superb season.
Norton & Hodgson will be better for the run.
Law was pretty average by his standards, which in a way is a positive too.
