JJ's report 10 COVID +ve cases, Wildcats also have cases.

https://www.examiner.com.au/story/7571725/jackjumpers-to-put-player-welfare-first-during-covid-19-situation/

Terrible predicament for both teams and the league.

Hoping a speedy recovery for all impacted.

For Tasmania is matters a bit less as they still won't have enough basketball players when all recover.

Hoping the league can work around all these cases.

There are just no more safe places to play, only the 'new normal' states / venues.

Makes the Perth coach's article on news.com look a little stupid now

I thought you'd enjoy the fact a small club like the Jack Jumpers were struck down in such a matter...

Waste of time and resources playing the NBL nationally. COVID was always going to affect this season, time for a bubble. Too many delays, meaning teams will either be playing back to backs to catch up with the draws, or the season is stretched out. Selfishly would like to see it come to QLD. Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast whatever it takes.

Although I am unsure the NBL has enough money to facilitate that.

There's an upside to all this.

Natural immunity lasts for 6 months or more, right?

It seems like half the NBL has now had covid.

Meaning the back half of the season won't be too impacted.

I don't believe you have natural immunity, the British opposition leader has caught it a 2nd time in close proximity. The vaccines keep you from getting very ill not catching it.

There is someone in the US that has now caught it 3 times. 20,21 and 22

Cairns, Perth, Adelaide, Tasmania, Illawarra, Brisbane, that's more than half the league

its like the flu, each mutation is not the same as the previous. natural immunity will protect you from what your body remembers from previous viruses.

hence why current vaccines and previous immunity are not doing much for omicron protection. the spike protein mutated, which is what was common in the previous variants.

either new vaccine needed for new protein, or catch omicron to get immunity.

no certainty against future variants though, unless they all stay similar to omicron, which is ideal outcome from this outbreak.

seems like half of the teams have now been exposed. certainly sucks to have no games to watch, but players health should be priority as we'd have nothing to watch / support without them!!

So both games are getting called off I think. I just don't see how they can continue like this.
