Why are Sydney still not playing?

My bad. It appears that they are indeed playing.

League communications is a shambles this season.
Their own twitter & facebook accounts make no mention whatsoever of the round 8 schedule yet even though it starts today.

I get that it is fluid and that cancellations & changes are going to happen, but right now as far as I can piece together there is a schedule in place for the 7 game above to be played this round. The teams & venues are aware of the schedule and that's what they are planning around until told otherwise.

So you'd think the league might be a little bit better at telling fans about these games. I assume that they still want us to tune in.
With all the chopping and changing, good communication becomes even more important now. They're doing a poor job atm. If ratings are down lately it's no secret why.

OK, looks like even after my do-over I still didn't catch everything.
WNBL have blessed us with an update!
The weekend will now see us with these 4 games...

Sat 5:00pm - Melbourne vs Townsville [ABC & Foxtel]

Sun 1:00pm - Canberra vs Bendigo [Kayo]
Sun 3:30pm - Sydney vs Perth [Kayo Freebies]
Sun 5:30pm - Adelaide vs Southside [Kayo]

... rather than the 3 games I had listed previously.
And note that Boomers-Fire will be on ABC/Foxtel on Saturday.

Yes she is.
But everyone else out there in red has been superbly composed - none more so than Alex Ciabattoni.
That 3rd quarter was outstanding from the Lynx.

What wasn't good for the Caps was their scouting IMO. Leaving Garbin & Isenbarger wide open so often. Much appreciated though.

A lot of A-grade performances from Perth players including a couple off the bench, which was big. Could easily have run out of puff with that being game #4 since last Wednesday.
First minutes of the season for Burrows was nice to see as well.

Very even team win. So much better than Monday night's mess.

Mitchell's baby joy, WNBL career with Bendigo Spirit on hold
Olympian Leilani Mitchell has called time on her season with the Bendigo Spirit. Mitchell has more important things than basketball to focus on - she is 20 weeks pregnant with the second child for her ...

so will that be good for the team or? Imagine if the club had some money to replace her

Her time was done 3 years ago tbh, best of luck to her and her partner. Look forward to see what she can do with Maitland.

Ouch.
Mitchell + Lavey was a pretty handy backcourt pairing, but Mitchell gone and Lavey now splitting duties with AFLW. Far from ideal.

Mansfield is the best pg after Lavey, chosen for the 2018 WC, injured a month before WC along with Mitchell. Both had to withdraw. Ebzery converts to a 1 in 2018, so to her backup, Madgen. Both were 2s at the time. Lavey always the third option for 5 year# running.

Mansfield Like bishop and Kunek etc, never contacted after that by ba.

Would be taking the above 2 (Lavey/Mansfield) plus Whitcomb as a cg who runs point for ny sometimes and at the asia cup.

The pg lineup has been

1.Mitchell-2.Ebzery-3.Lavey for 3 years 19', 20’, 21’

2018 it was 1.Mitchell-2.Mansfield-3.Lavey a month before WC.
2 injuries occurred prior to
2018 we ended up with 1.Ebzery-2.Madgen-3.Lavey

20-21 they find out Madgen is not a pg
21’ Ebzery retires
21’ Heal and Rocci choose to remain home being offered asia cup
22’ Mitchell opals career over

22’
The only real options atm are
Whitcomb - lock
Lavey - lock

The rest

Heal
Rocci
Mansfield
Wallace
Reid

Like I said, I would pick Mansfield over the others this year but I expect the others will get a shot later on, post 22’

Get that the season has been severely impacted by COVID, but some clear, regular comms from BA/league would not go astray.

I went to WNBL website to look up some flames boxscores and the live stats page is broken too. It only shows games from Jan 12 onwards.
The alternate boxscores (I don't know why they have them in 2 different formats?) from the fixtures page still works luckily.
I expect lightning to deal with the flames pretty easily tonight.

Yikes. Judging only by the boxscore it's ugly scenes at Brydens Stadium this evening.
17-32 is the score at half time, with Sydney shooting 5/37 so far for a FG% of 13.5 (Heal & Mansfield both 1/10)

Change it up Shane

Heal
Mansfield
Yaeger
Davis
Froling

Deeble
Nakkasoglu
Mahady
Rowe
Purcell

Calleia
Pizzey
Evans

Really poorly constructed roster given who's out there in nbl1.
Antoniadou, Kaser, Paalvast, Taia, Hopoate etc we’re all available at the time.

Aokuso is bloody hopeless. One of the most frustrating and overrated players ever.

What exactly does "Covid protocols" mean? Does it mean someone in the team has Covid, or are they a close contact awaiting results or...?

Man ... Flames gave us a hell of a scare today. They pretty much deserved to win that, but just got a little tight down the stretch while the Lynx held their nerve. Young was absolutely clutch in the final minutes, Mabrey huge all game, and Scherf handy missing a double double by 1 board.

Shout out to Mansfield who was already playing well but took it up another notch today against a pretty good backcourt.
