Frontrunner for next BOOMERS coach?

Caporn
Nielsen
Patrick
Gleeson
Weaver
Brown
Rillie
Bruton
Vickerman
Kelly
Jackomas
Forde
Schueller
Roth
Maor
Overseas coach
Brondello
Seebohm
Anyone else?

Personally I'd go with Forde or Roth.

I think we could do better than settle for an NBL coach. Gleeson would probably be alright showing himself to be quite astute during the broadcasts.

I know he's fallen out of favour but I always would've liked to have seen Bevo get a run but it wasn't to be.

Bevo not a chance, that name is ruined now after what his son did. No way BA would hire him.

Bring back Lemanis.

It's classic Hoops, every tournament. Next: '202x/2y Boomers Lineup' threads started while games are on. Show enthusiasm for the team at least.

If Boomers make the last 8, I'm ok with keeping Goorjian a bit longer.

If not, Lemanis as 1st option, even if I’m dreaming.

Otherwise, Bevo in a 2+2 contract, with some of {Longley, Forde, Neilson and Roth} as assistants to prepare them to be future Boomers coaches.
Given we saw him at Asian Cup level and need to see how he does at the highest level, I’d offer him 2 years with a likely 2-year extension.

Im with you on that Hoopie, loving those coaching suggestions, except I'm not keen on keeping Goorjian after this WC regardless if where we finish.

There's skill and potential thats not being harnessed with the talent with have.
The defense and grit that Goorjian promotes is effective, but that alone isn't getting the best out this player list at both ends of the floor.

We look disorganised and reactive offensively.(at times even lost)
It got us a win against Finland, but is not a reliable formula agaunst better teams.
The line-ups have not worked thus far,and it clearly was evident last night.
Going small ball was an obvious plan based on the line up, but it's not working.

When bevo took over the qualifiers, many after said he was done because they played like shite. And that he should stay in nz. Different posters or the same who have memory loss...

We struggled v japan 80-64 for 3/4 of the game and vs China we scraped through 76-69 before goorjian came back in mid year

The next few games we won comfortably under goorj and the last bunch the same with Kelly at the helm.

Bevs chosen team was (many questioniable selections at the time)

Naar
Zunic
Macdonald
Mudronja
Galloway
Moller
Okwera
Kay
Vague
Dengdit
Gak
Brandt

Actually, Maor doesn't sound like a bad idea.
Could be highly effective.
Im also a big fan of Roth bad on his NBL form.
Not sure how either would translate to the FIBA game, but both are great coaches.

Yeah Bevo is available- he resigned from Rockingham last week and is starting a training program North of Perth. Poor guy has had a bad heath run but think he is on the mend now- Great coach!

Yeah I like the Maor call too. Great balance of tactical prowess and passion

Weaver and Forde interesting prospects too, the latter probably more as an assistant (perhaps with Gleeson, again?)

Think it's time for Goorj to retire.
Talking smack now, he said what he said prior to the WC and now he trying to tell the media Something different.

Don’t care who it is but we need a change.

Much as I think the Boomers need a Gleeson or Roth to take charge and give them some direction, I can't see *some* of the NBA players buying into having them as coaches and being told what to do. (I hope I’m wrong, of course.)

Gleeson at least has had some NBA coaching exposure, but most of the other candidates haven’t, so should we again try to get someone with NBA coaching experience?

It would be a tough gig trying to bring together youngsters and old guard, those who play NBA ball and those who don’t, and BA and fan and media expectations during a transition / rebuilding phase based around a very good player who isn’t a true PG.

Why do you think Gleeson is not on the coaching team currently. The players don't like him... not all, but most

He has nba exp and won multiple nbl championships but it’s a free ride with goorj.

Exactly, Weedy. I think someone like him is needed but won't get it because of his blunt style.

Most of the coaches we got have tremendous bias towards players.
Gleeson and his Perth players
Goorj and his legacy guys
Nielsen and his nba mates

Forde and Roth are the only 2 who could not give a toss where you are from or where you play aslong as you put in the effort and they are vocal about it.

Those 2 would be apart of my coaching staff. Caporn as 3rd assistant and Seebohm who is a renowned play maker.

Would not have him as offense coach but a relay when the HC is on the sideline.
He is cool, calm collected and can break down plays and communicate well with the players on the bench.
