SEM @ Bullets - Sat 30th Dec

Just one game slated for today. (how good has '12 Games of Xmas' been btw)

Creek returns for SEM. Prather debuts for Brisbane.

Am sure the Bullets will find a way to stuff this one up as usual, but strangely enough they're favoured in betting markets.

I actually think apart from the fact that there has been plenty of hoops that is has hurt the product. Everyone is tired. It's a big enough time of the year alone but massive schedules for some teams have led to some very ugly basketball.

I always like games every day, certainly over Xmas.

Creek should be the difference today, Prather very under done. SEM by a few.

Serious question. Does anyone know how old Rocco Zikarsky is, and is he a Next Star?

Prather certainly a wildcard, who knows what to expect. If Baynes was ever going to get some minutes it would be against Big Sauce, both to try and contain as a very big body and also try and pick up some of his usual cheap fouls. Williams is probably the kind of player Baynes has been used to banging with, depends if the refs call soft stuff or will they play a factor again. Then there's Harrison and Rocco to throw size at Sauce as well.
Highlight for me will be the melodrama between Sobey and Schueller, will Sobey get yanked for hero ball or will he be the hero and not let him get dragged. Just saw that Norton and Wagstaff are both averaging more points than Shannon Scott, pretty bad for an import, even a cheap one.

How dumb was that last play from Nadar, him and Browne not showing anything defensively. Brisbane actually playing well in 1st.

SEM playing like shit and sauce goes down, mike Kelly has had so much bad luck. In all that they have played horrible, Sauce being their best.

Is Rhys Vague wearing fake novelty tattoo sleeves on each arm?

Absolute crap call on Risetto, Browne been horrible, Nader as well, surely SEM can get better imports. Creek looking like he's missed 12 months not a week. Brisbane making best of their good fortune but horrible game.

It's a beat down at half time. Bullets up 15. This could get real ugly

Or Brisbane could choke again and Phoenix come storming home. Sauce back on, don't look healthy though.

Kunek, just bad.

If the NBL wants to force women on to every broadcast to virtue signal that's fine, but would be cool if they could media train them and get them up to the standard of everyone else.

Baynes - legally stealing money from Brisbane.

Kelly must have ripped in at half time

Play inns are now the flavour in most basketball competitions now, but if either of these two teams make it, it's a travesty. I’ll give SEM a little Lee way as they have been hit with injuries all season.

Be honest. Who else was looking on the replay to find a way to blame Baynes for getting a gut bunch from Browne.

Browne disqualified for whacking Baynes, had better third quarter but overall his season has been crap. SEM were better when they had the bench on.

Gut punch? More like a swat, given the arm was basically straight in a roundhouse action.

Surprised that Baynes went down so easily, but not surprised he stayed down to get the call

It was a dumb play, Phoenix were racing away for two point lay up and game was on. Honestly some of the import point guards this season have been average at best.

Brisbane deserved the win with a reasonable team performance. Sobey being their best, as I said previously, not good enough for finals.
SEM got bones of a good side when all players are healthy, looking like sauce will be out now. Kelly on the right track, some players iq though is low. The club has been built around Creek, get players that can fit that system, pass first point guard for a start.

Overall not a very attractive game.

Yeah I was surprised Baynes went to the ground for that tap. Milked it. Could've been given a technical for overselling it heh.

If the higher-ranked team wins each game today and tomorrow then Illawarra will be in sixth!

Looked like a complete brain fade for Browne, like he forgot where he was and couldn't believe what he'd done. He'd been playing good ball the minutes leading up to it.

Over the season, Browne been poor, odd good game and moment but I'd say he sealed his fate yesterday, can’t see him back next season. It totally turn the game yesterday, imo cost SEM the win.

Would imagine Browne gets a couple of games at minimum.

Has potentially cost his team a playoff spot with how close it is.

I wouldn't think it would be more than one game.

1. It wasn't a 'forceful' strike. (Don't let Baynes reaction fool you)

2. Strike to the chest area.

3. The NBL is traditionally soft when multiple-game suspensions are on the line.

That's the 2023-24 NBL season in a nutshell right there.
