Sixers @ Cairns - Sat 13th Jan

Tips 5:30pm VIC/NSW.

Adelaide on a high after flogging stinky Sydney. Cairns at home.

Anything could happen. Expecting a grinding game here with not a great deal of excitement.

Cairns by 3.

Should really tell us a lot about Sixers and the coach, they play to the calibre of the last few games they should win. Which Cairns turns up, the inconsistent one or the one that occasionally fires. Even if better Cairns fronts I think Sixers can get this. Miller v Kell could be interesting, could also tell us a lot about next season, job interview for Kell. Humphries continues the way he's going, it’ll be Sixers by six.

I was silly enough to put on ESPN early and have had to watch 15 minutes of Nothing But Net. I feel my iq dropping quickly. Who the heck are these American peanuts.

Sixers have been good in front of some massive home crowds lately, will be a big statement if they can win on the road in Cairns. It would also put them legitimately back in top six contention.

Must win game for the Snakes though, can't afford to lose this at home.

Missed early comments, Kuol started on bench, any reason given.

Two fouls on Humphries were absolute rubbish, ref the game like last nights games. Big men going up straight without whacking arms is good D, bodies banging is not a foul.

Sixers bench let Cairns back in. As above two fouls on Humphries changed the game. Sixers subbing also left a bit to be desired

McCall missing the gimme layup then getting teched for the god awful flop. LOL. That's at least his second of the year.

DJV and Humphries so good together, Ninnis is certainly very calm on the sideline.

Ben - Reported as knee soreness for Flowers. Think this is his 3rd game missed now.

Yes, ankle. Don't understand both Wiley and Humphries on the bench at same time. Kuol has been a lot less effective since he has not been able to grab.

Mccaron minus 16 in just over 9 minutes. Lowery is horrid imo, Casey and Copeland good. Will sixers choke down the stretch

Kell, Humphries and DJ really taken advantage of the foul line tonight. Might get Adam Forde going on a Darko Rajaković style rant at this rate.

You want play bench play them in garbage time, not when you are trying to win the match.

Unlucky call onKuol there imo, he was on the floor before Kell who was faking and then jumped into Kuol. Kuol was there first

Lowery shut the f up, you got no idea. Ninnis should have put the foot on the throat at 3/4 time instead of starting half his bench

No Wiley down the stretch, playing Cadee down the stretch, all questionable

Why a hero 3 point shot when scores are tied when any basket will win the game?

That last quarter the 36ers, both coaches and player went back a month

OT, Cairns in foul trouble and Sixers chucking threes, Kell not your answer at the point, Cadee should be ten minutes max back up.

Is Wiley injured?

Sixers +23 on free throws made and look like they'll lose this. Shooting issues again costing them.

Sixers have totally fumbled the bag here. In control for most of the game and went completely stagnant in the final quarter.

Last quarter and OT was poor from players and coach for Adelaide.

Ninnis will need to come up with something better if he wants the job next season.

Unless Ninnis has been told play some players ahead of others, he's got it totally wrong. You don’t start half your bench when you’re leading by 10 at 3/4 time. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt on Wiley and assume he was injured.

Cairns got lucky that some of their players got into foul trouble or fouled out because the bench guys that came in were so much better.

Humphries dominates the paint then doesn't see the ball . 36ers willing to play team ball for a half then it goes to crap with very selfish choices. 36ers collective heads dropped in OT, not a great look.

Exhaustion would def played a part in the last quarter... play Thursday night, fly out Friday morning. Heat and 95% humidity. It's tough against a well rested team at home.

Sixers guards playing for their stats lines not the team. Coach accepts it and plays them in the 4th and OT anyway.

When they're good they're finals level when they're bad like the end of that they're barely nbl1 standard.

Galloway a waste of space. DJV and Kell cost them the game. Cadre OK when he's a pass first PG instead of thinking he's capable of penetrating and scoring.... he's not.

Sebastian... just stating a possible factor. Whether it's their job or not is irrelevant. Fitness has been an issue with the team early in the season, with massive gains in the past few weeks. Obviously they were exhausted and small errors crept in. Wiley was obviously on the bench for a reason and Humphries gives heart and soul. They'll continue to improve with the right guidance. But those conditions tagged their toll on bodies that haven't had a chance to properly recover.

So tomorrow Sydney v NZ should have 17 OT's until someone falls over the line because they have both played and traveled? Give me a spell.

Not sure about 17 OTs.. maybe a slight exaggeration there??? But Sydney get an extra day's recovery and play at home... we'll see about NZ.. tough turn around.

Nba guys play back to back in different cities, euro league guys can play three games a week, two in different countries.
Please tiredness should not even be an excuse.

There's a difference between an excuse and a factor. I'm almost certain exhaustion and fitness is a factor in many losses for all sorts of professional sports people. Hopefully the 36ers will learn from this and their physical and mental stamina will continue to improve.

Will there be another rant/excuse by DJ about having to travel and that was main reason they lost the game?

Eddie's right, exhaustion was a factor in the loss. That will be especially apparent on a team where Kell is the only guy able to consistently create on offence! He did a pretty good job through three quarters, but he didn't have enough in the tank to carry the team to the finish line.

Cairns defence at home is very physical and DJV struggled to get to the rim and get himself going like he has in other games. Cadee isn't strong enough to get to the rim against that sort of defence and McCarron and Dech should never dribble the ball more than once. The only other option was Marshall to support Kell, but Ninnis decided to go with the more experienced guys late and it didn't pay off.

If you've played a game and traveled, and your opposition has been waiting for you, they'll be fresher.

That compounded the issue where they didn't have good counters in place for Cairns taking away Humphries' touches, so they ended up with tiring players creating shots one-on-one, not a good recipe.
