Bogut in Hall of Fame

Andrew Bogut has been inducted in FIBA hall of fame.

Joins a small number of Aussies. Had a very good on court career, which could have been better without injuries and always put hand up to represent the Boomers. Congratulations

Not sure I agree he always put his hand up for the Boomers didn't play a game for us from 2008-2015 but he ended up being a better player than I thought he would.

But I'll never forget his derogatory comments about Gaze & Longley when he was drafted nor him being a prolific proponent of the bat shit crazy "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory during his NBA days. I remember there was a bad comment about people on welfare too.

Bogut is a bit of a ding bat, yes said some stupid rubbish certainly in his younger days but was one hell of player who in my opinion did fantastic work for the boomers. On basketball pedigree he deserves it and I congratulate him and he clearly deserves it. If it wasn't for some of the horrible injuries he’d had been even better.

I randomly saw Bogut last month when he was in Perth (not sure of the reason why though).

Aside from his career accolades, and the culmination of them with this induction, I have to say he is looking lean and healthy - better than when he was playing. A pet peeve of mine are ex-pro athletes who blow out after their careers are over. Well done Andrew.

The blowing out post-career is common, but also somewhat understandable (activity reduces, time to consume calories increases) :)

The even more frustrating one for me is players who get even more lean and healthy looking post-career. It seems like a waste, for the guys who seemingly weren't in peak condition as players, but then finally work it out after they stop!

Considering he managed to have a major injury every 18 months, that's a bit unfair. Not sure he would have been much use in 2010 after basically breaking his arm in half a few months earlier, for example.

Still played 5 major tournaments despite his injury history, which is pretty decent, all things considered.

I guess they provided him the address of the FIBA HoF rather than relying on him googling where it is
