They may be better than them, but obviously from what has been said above they have not been training. And considering they have not missed games on Friday nights or at Easter, one might question their commitment to the team. Maybe this is a lesson for all players with State asperations. Don't expect to make the team if you are not going to make the commitment to train.

But from what i understand 1 hurt himself during a game at easter and hasnt played or trained since, to allow him to play at state champs. The other has trained and played. go flames,

What exactly is your point? That these kids who are trying out for competitive positions should be able to not train, so that they are fit for State Champs, but still make the State team? They didn't make it, bad luck, move on. Build a bridge and get over it.

If you have not been to all of their trainings! Do not know what it IS the coach is looking for! Have never been to a National Championship! Have never been a part of a successful Nationals group! Then you really have no idea what you are talking about. All you are managing to do is transfer all kids negative feelings into an unrealistic idea about what it is to make a State team. From somebody who has been there, the best thing these kids can do is change their behaviour to do everything asked of them by the next State Coach they have to try and be more successful.

well i hope zac he is the water boy he should not be in the team no training at all that is crap there are at least two sturt boys that should not be in the team well it does not matter the team will not do that well. I wondering want zac is doing with the coach

Reply #80455 | Report this post

I think the problem is that the coaches have kept a kid in who has barely played over the last six months & yet they cut two kids(with minor injuries from what I have heard) who have been the main reason that team has pretty much dominated the comp, especially Krake.

anon #80463

From what I have heard, the two guys who wre cut have been playing on Friday nights and not training on the weekends. IMO that shows a lack of heart. And is very different from somebody who has not been playing due to an injury. If they were really injured, they would not have been playing. I guess they only hjave themselves to blame. And those Sturt boys won the Easter tournament. So they can't be too bad. And they stillmight not make the team since they still have 14 players left.

"From what I have heard, the two guys who wre cut have been playing on Friday nights and not training on the weekends."

You heard wrong.

Also if you really knew either of the boys in question you would NEVER question their heart. Krake played the last game hurt at Easter because Norwood only had about 3 fit players left.

But whatever, the decision is made, time to move on.

And it was the wrong decision!!! Cant wait to see those guys oving into ABA ranks over the next couple of years!!! At least people at Norwood appreciate their talents, pity others dont!!!

It's a pity people who write on this don't get there facts right. Krake plays and trains through nearly all his injuries (not that he has had many)and missed one game over Easter with injury and 1 state training. Howell missed 2 games at Easter with injury and 1 state training. So cut the crap! You will probably never find more committed basketballers than these two. They just havn't got the ego's like some of you other jerks !

How about well done to the boys that have made the squad - yes sometimes mistakes are made & perhaps they don't go with the right team, but at the time the coaches believe they are making the best decision. Why not get behind the remaining suad & offer support!

Perhaps they should have proven it to the selectors week in week out at training instead of leaving it to the last momemt at State Champs.
Bad Luck, obviously the selectors see the potential in someone else so move on. Good luck to the guys still in the hunt and train hard for your State, not yourself!

All great stuff
I am pretty sure none of the players left in the squad give a shit at what you lot think, they have all worked hard to get to where they are, ability is one part of the selection process, attitude is the other, I am betting half the rubbish here is from cut players or their parents. Like I said attitude.

Couldn't agree more with doused flames. Members of clubs, parents and friends continuously reinforce players abilities. But often do not have the background nor understanding to fully comprehend the ramifications of their actions. Go flames and other obviously consider that those player who did not make the team have been left out due to a poor decision. However none of these people were involved with the coaching staff and I would assume have not been involved at higher levels. There actions can only confirm what these boys are probably feeling in that they have been done an injustice. Rathee, they should be seeking feedback on their posittion and asking if they have done all they can to improve. From somebody who has been around a while I guarentee that nobody in the State Squad, current or recently cut, have put in close to the level of work players like Phil Smyth did at the same age. And thus have only themselves to blame. Leave nothing to chance and do more work.

Good luck to those players remaining in all squads and ask yourself if you can do more. Then when you see the answer, do whatever it is more that yo can do.

I love how kids have more knowledge than state coaches. Next year i think we should sack all state coaches (after they pick the squad), and have the players that were cut come back and player coach with their infinite knowledge.

Well yes i do believe that the kids have more knowledge than the state coaches because they never come out to watch any of the games being played. They base thier picks entirely on trials and how good a player was several years ago.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Yeah, the kids have heaps more experience at National Championships....

Doesn't one of the assistant coaches COACH in that grade? So he would see teams every week! And I saw Robbo watching U18 games over the Easter carnival.

"base thier picks entirely on trials"

You mean, they base their picks on players playing against the players competing for the same spots, running the actual structures that the state team will run? Instead of what maybe completely different club structures? Who would've thought.....
