Mackinnon named NBL POTW

The National Basketball League (NBL) has named Melbourne Tigers veteran Sam Mackinnon as the Player of the Week for Round Seven after leading his team to a 123-111 victory against the Gold Coast Blaze at the State Netball Hockey Centre on Saturday night.

Mackinnon was on fire against the Blaze with a near triple-double of 23 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists, while also blocking two shots and snatching two steals.

"Slammin' Sam" went 9-of-13 from field (including 2-of-3 three-pointers) and made all three of his free throw attempts to guide the Tigers to a tough victory.
Luke Schenscher got close to going back-to-back after 19 and 18 against Sydney. Other front runners (the NBL's gone from listing two "almosts" to almost everyone!) were Worthington, Bruton, Ere and Anstey.

And here are the honourable mentions, including Adam Ballinger:
Others in consideration for Player of the Week included Glen Saville (Wollongong), Kavossy Franklin (Wollongong), Kirk Penney (New Zealand), Adam Ballinger (Adelaide), James Harvey (Gold Coast), Peter Crawford (Perth), Larry Abney (Cairns), Corey Williams (Townsville), Julian Khazzouh (Sydney) and Liam Rush (Sydney)

So true they name everyone! It kind of loses the sparkle when that many names are mentioned... Im thinking go with a top 3 and move on with life haha

Wouldve been nice to see Luke make a couple more 'sitters' and most probs get the back to back!
